Some clever sod said this on the internet the other day..
ββ¦professionalism is always a joy to βdoβ but if friendliness is not part of the picture too, then itβs just not worth it. Weβre not robots, leave the perfection goals to a robot. Help people who are a joy to help and do a bloody good job of enjoying it whilst youβre at it. Probably, βproductivityβ will have occurred in amongst all of that, if not, you wonβt get asked back and thatβs like the perfect automatic cleansing device. If you canβt help decent people and be rewarded graciously for it, you havenβt got a going concern, a business, or anything you care to call it. My most βsuccessfulβ periods were when having fun making customers happy was a given. Protect that from anything that reduces that.β¦ you can not allow anything to turn what you love to do into something you donβt like to do. I have found it always comes back to people, not thoughts, not burnout. Someone gets into your head and convinces you that you havenβt helped. Theyβre cutting your throat. You can not afford to keep them, you CAN afford to loose them. No matter how it looks. Be brave, be you. People look for a skill set and they hire a person.β
