**What if your finance dashboard could actually change the numbers?**
That's the interesting part of Microsoft Fabric Apps.
We built a Finance Forecast Writeback demo where a finance user can:
📊 View the financial dashboard
✏️ Adjust a forecast
🔄 See the totals recalculate immediately
💾 Save the change as a draft
📤 Submit it for review
✅ Commit the approved change
🔍 Keep a complete audit trail
The important lesson? Building something that *looks* like a web app is the easy part.
The real engineering challenge is making writeback trustworthy: handling financial sign conventions, embedded authentication, retries, approval states and append-only auditing.
And sometimes the right answer is still **Power BI**. If users only need analysis and never need to write data back, a report is simpler and cheaper.
But when users need to analyse **and act**, that's where a Fabric App starts to earn its place.
