Five pieces of wisdom I’d share with my younger self:
1. Not everyone will like you, and that’s perfectly fine.
As you navigate through life, you’ll encounter a mix of personalities. Some may not resonate with you, and that’s completely normal. Focus on nurturing relationships with those who appreciate you for who you are. Remember, differing opinions don’t diminish your value; they simply reflect the diversity of human experiences.
2. Have faith in yourself.
Cultivating self-confidence is essential. Trust your intuition and embrace the unique path you’re on. When you believe in your abilities, you empower yourself to pursue your dreams and overcome obstacles. Don’t let the whispers of doubt overshadow your potential; your journey is yours to shape.
3. Perfection is an illusion.
The pursuit of perfection can be a heavy burden. It was for me. Understand that striving for an unattainable ideal can stifle your creativity and happiness. Embrace your quirks and imperfections; they contribute to your individuality and make you relatable to others. Remember, it’s our flaws that often connect us the most.
4. Allow yourself to experience the full range of emotions.
Emotions are a natural part of the human experience, encompassing joy, sadness, anger, and everything in between. Rather than suppressing them, embrace each feeling as a vital aspect of your growth and understanding. By welcoming all emotions, you cultivate resilience and a deeper connection to yourself and others.
5. Everything will turn out alright in the end.
Life is a rollercoaster with its fair share of highs and lows. Trust that challenges often serve as valuable lessons on your journey. While it may be hard to see the light during tough times, have faith that brighter days are ahead. You are more resilient than you realise, and every experience contributes to your strength. I’ve been to hell and back but I’m still here to tell the tale.
