April Update

The final versions of Blotch are here, and honestly, it feels really special to have reached this point.

We’re so happy with how the product has turned out. Production is nearly complete, dispatch is getting close, and we’ve also been continuing to improve the software with new Widgets, automatic updates, and faster rendering.

Our frames are currently in final certification. Once complete, we’ll be ready to ship straight away. We’re very much in the final stretch now.

Packaging designs are final and we’re excited for you to see them soon.

Behind the scenes, we’ve also been refining the Blotch experience with UI and UX improvements focused on clarity, speed, and calm. These updates are coming later this month.

We’re starting work on Home Assistant support and growing the team as we bring more great apps to Blotch.

October 2025 Update

Hi everyone,

First off, a huge thank you to all of you who responded to our recent email and continue to support us. Your encouragement and feedback mean the world to our small team.

Production Progress

We’re now deep in the production process and working hard toward completing all manufacturing by November. This milestone will set us up perfectly for dispatch preparation shortly after.

We’re still persevering through ongoing challenges with tariffs and supplier changes, and while these have added some complexity to our timeline, we’re actively exploring solutions and remain determined to keep things moving forward.

In our office, we’ve assembled the Blotch frame and are currently conducting extensive testing to iron our any firmware and hardware issues to ensure everything meets the high standards we’ve set for ourselves (and for you!).

A Bit of Inspiration

Recently, we had the incredible opportunity to speak with Dmitry Grishin, one of the early investors in Ring Doorbell. His insights were invaluable and gave us fresh motivation as we head into these crucial final months.

Platform Updates

Running user testing sessions to refine the interface and make the user experience more intuitive.

Optimizing rendering performance to ensure your images display with crisp clarity on our newly sourced e-ink frame.

Hey everyone, Dolan & Kelvin, here – creators of the Blotch Smart Frame.

We share a passion for smart homes and connected devices, but something's been nagging at us: the explosion of light-emitting displays. Fridges? Washing machines? Even our picture frames are bathing us in unnecessary glow. We spend enough time with screens already.

That's where Blotch comes in. We envisioned a minimalistic, un-intrusive smart frame that seamlessly integrates with your home decor.
