Your website may be compatible, but is your app? Rather than fixing it following a complaint from a blind person, Domino's took him twice to court, lost and apart from reputational damage, lost a lot of money also. People around the world stopped buying Domino's out of solidarity. Just recently, at an accessibility conference we attended in London, where they historically always feed all the delegates with as much Domino's as they can eat, they changed their order to Papa Johns.

A blind man had complained that he was unable to change toppings or complete his order online.

While these are just the tip of the iceberg, and you really need a proper audit of your website to find out how accessible it is, these posters designed by the UK Home Office are on the whole very good and eye-catching. If you are a web designer yourself or work in a team where some of your colleagues may not know as much about accessibility as you do, it is worth printing these off and sticking them on the wall where everybody can see them.

A great and valid point made by Robin Christopherson from AbilityNet. It's not enough making sure that the workplace is accessible, if the website that the job is advertised on is not accessible then disabled applicants are being overlooked.

It’s no secret that much of the recruitment process is now done online. From posting job adverts on websites and social media to online skills assessments and application forms, job applicants now need to be able to access the web to get hired.

I have been playing around with this new amazing FREE app from Microsoft. It works for both Android and iOS. I have tested it on loads of documents, and even got it to read the barcodes on my groceries. It worked every time, and from every angle. This is an amazing app for blind people.

More than 20 credit unions in Virginia have been sued IN THE LAST FOUR WEEKS because their websites are not accessible. Expect the same to happen in the UK soon. Next year new laws come in that will complement the existing Equality Act 2010.

Navy Federal Credit Union and others are added to the list of credit unions accused of non-compliant ADA websites.
