X41G set for legendary Alan Meyerson! A Dream realized!
We are incredibly honored to share that the legendary engineer Meyerson (Interstellar, Inception, Dune, Lion King, and many others) has added a set of our Reso X41G Germanix microphones to his world-class collection and praised its sound!

The X41G is our ambitious project to create a modern interpretation of the iconic Neumann M50. It features a set of innovative acoustic equalizers together with GERMANIX tube-emulation architecture. To have support from such a great master is truly a dream come true!

Recording the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at AIR Lyndhurst for the UAE 53rd National Day Celebrations. Engineer:
The recording setup featured a Decca tree with Neumann M50 and Reso X41G microphones. As the designer of this mic, it's a huge joy and pride.The most daring dream and a challenge behind X41G design was try to reproduce the timbral essence of the M50 without total replicating its internals and appearance. With invaluable support from classical recording community, through many iterations, this vision is seems now becoming a reality. The X41G has already been deployed in several high-profile projects alongside the M50. Development continues...

These five X41G mics are perfect immersive set with sound of historical M50. All of them are super-matched for only 0.1 dB difference by a sensitivity. But why are we do so if one can always remove any difference in a DAW? Well, there are at least 2 reasons. 1. In a condenser capsule each parameter affect all others together. Most importantly - the sensitivity (at certain freq) corresponds to certain shape of frequency response, and vice versa. We have extremely high mechanical identity between capsules, so we logically need to tune capsules to precisely same sensitivity level in order to get precisely same frequency responses. The 0.1 dB difference at 300 Hz corresponds to mismatch of frequency curves of two or more capsules within less than +/-0.25 dB across the whole frequency range.
2 .The second reason: long-term stability. Almost every material undergo slight dimensional changes as a result of aging, which leads to a drift in microphone characteristics over time. Metal-diaphragm capsules are known to keep their initial characteristics much longer than other types, because metal is way more stable than any polymere. That's why we strive to achieve the perfectly close characteristics today, so that your microphones will be more likely perfectly matched even in 20 or more years considering aging effects. , , ,

Direct-powered microphones (such as DPA4003, 4041S, and similar) are known for its top-notch sound performance impossible for P48 models. But.. such mics have important cons:
-Incompatible with P48 when you need it.
- Requires special multi-wire cables.
- You are always tied to the PSU (or special pre).
We've found a solution to the problem.
Reso Xpower is a powering architecture implemented in Reso mics allowing you getting a performance of direct powered mics without special cables, by using high voltage phantom power 100V. But that's not all. At P48 the same microphones are providing the performance of the best P48 mics. Magic ? Naah. This possible by long original research, meticulous design and modern high-speed semiconductors.
This is how it works:
-The microphone has a regular XLR-3 connector.
-Being connected to P48 pre it works at max performance possible for P48 mic in terms of sound and specs. (for instance Reso X41P has 124dB dynamic range).
-When you need the top transient accuracy and dynamic range, you can connect the external P100 phantom power source. The microphone will automatically change its mode to getting best performance possible depending on powering used.
-No special cables, all XLR-3 conectors. The P100 PSU can be connected as an insert in any spot of mic line ( e.g. close to preamps).
-100% safe for all P48 environment. PSU has a safety system, when mic is disconnected the high-voltage is blocked. If the wrong mic connected the current protection blocks it from damaging.
The Xpower is already on board of Reso X-series mics.

At beautifull RAK studio. X41G Germanium with newly designed spherical equalizer B4150, modelled to get as close as possible to classical Neumann M50 sound, and it really good at it. Thanks Adam Miller for this opportunity and photos! , , ,
