A powerful offshore earthquake struck the southern Philippines, prompting tsunami warnings and urgent evacuations in coastal areas.

Authorities advised residents in vulnerable zones to move inland and seek higher ground as officials monitored sea-level changes. The alert was later cancelled, but the earthquake still caused major destruction across parts of the country.
This remains a developing disaster, with emergency teams continuing response operations in affected areas.

Footage captured from a home in the area shows the storm closing in — sheets of rain hammering streets and gardens as the system passed overhead.
Drivers are urged to take care on flooded roads and allow extra time for journeys. The public is reminded to stay indoors during thunder and lightning, unplug sensitive electronics, and avoid sheltering under trees.

These images are a powerful reminder that being close to a tornado is extremely dangerous, even if the funnel does not hit you directly.

In this footage, a person is standing near the storm when a tree branch suddenly snaps and flies dangerously close. That is exactly what makes tornadoes so deadly: not only the rotating wind itself, but also the debris they hurl through the air at high speed.

A tornado can throw branches, metal, glass, and other objects with little warning, turning anything nearby into a life-threatening projectile within seconds.
What may look like a “safe distance” can become deadly almost instantly. 🌪️

🌊 Lake Powell Nears Critical Level as Water and Power Concerns Grow

Hook: One of the most important reservoirs in the American West is approaching dangerously low levels, raising fresh concerns over water supply and hydropower generation.

Lake Powell had dropped to around 24% of capacity by mid-April 2026, placing it near historic lows as drought and poor snowmelt runoff continue to weaken the Colorado River system.

Federal projections warned that, without major intervention, the reservoir could fall below the minimum level needed to generate electricity at Glen Canyon Dam by August. That would mark a major escalation in the long-running water crisis affecting the region.

The decline reflects a broader pattern of extreme dryness, reduced inflow from the Rocky Mountains, and long-term pressure on one of the most heavily used river systems in the United States.

Heavy rain triggered major flash flooding across parts of Central Texas, with Austin dealing with high water on roads and travel disruption, while San Antonio saw more dangerous flooding impacts

In San Antonio, flood conditions became more serious, with road closures reported and at least one fatality confirmed during the event as floodwaters surged through the area.
The flooding was driven by repeated rounds of thunderstorms and deep Gulf moisture, a setup that can quickly overwhelm urban drainage systems and low-water crossings, especially in flood-prone parts of Texas.

Heavy rainfall led to flooding in Unaizah, in Saudi Arabia’s Al Qassim Province, as unstable weather affected parts of the Kingdom. Recent official forecasts had already warned that Qassim, including Unaizah, could be impacted by thunderstorms, heavy rain, and flash-flood risk during this latest weather episode.
Saudi Civil Defence also issued broader warnings for thunderstorms and flash floods across multiple regions, urging people to avoid valleys and flood-prone areas as unsettled conditions continued.
Flooding in areas like Unaizah can develop quickly when intense rainfall falls over dry, compact ground, reducing absorption and increasing fast surface runoff.

🌀🌊 Typhoon Sinlaku Slams Saipan

Powerful Typhoon Sinlaku has struck Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands, bringing destructive winds, torrential rain, and dangerous coastal conditions to the region. Warnings remain in place for life-threatening weather, including flash flooding, coastal flooding, and extreme winds as the storm moves near or over Saipan and nearby islands.

Forecasts indicate sustained winds over Saipan could reach 130 to 150 mph, with higher gusts, while seas near the island may build to around 40 feet. Multiple hazards are affecting the area, increasing the risk of major disruption and damage.

Sinlaku is one of the strongest tropical cyclones to impact the region this year, and its slow movement is increasing the threat of prolonged flooding, structural damage, and power outages across parts of the Northern Mariana Islands.

☄️🇮🇩 Possible Space Debris Spotted in the Sky Above Indonesia

A bright object was seen streaking across the sky above Lampung, Sumatra, raising speculation that it may have been space debris re-entering the atmosphere.
If so, the glowing trail was likely caused by material burning up as it passed through the atmosphere at very high speed, creating a brief but dramatic display in the night sky.

As there has been no official confirmation, it is safest to describe the event as a possible space debris sighting rather than a confirmed re-entry.

🌫️🟠 Saharan Dust Storm Engulfs Crete, Greece

A powerful wave of Saharan dust swept across Crete, covering parts of the island in a dense orange haze and sharply reducing visibility. Strong southerly winds carried dust from North Africa into the eastern Mediterranean, creating dramatic sky colors across the island.

The event was part of a broader unstable weather pattern affecting Greece, with strong winds helping transport large amounts of desert dust in a short period. In Crete, the dust plume was intense enough to disrupt normal conditions and significantly worsen air quality.

While Saharan dust outbreaks are not unusual in Greece, this episode stood out for its density, vivid orange skies, and the scale of the dust transport over the island.
