🌊 Floodwater held back only by a pane of glass.

This is Wenzhou, in eastern China, after Typhoon Dolphin — the strongest storm to hit the country this year — made landfall in Zhejiang with winds around 150 km/h. Parts of the province were hit with 200–400 mm of rain, turning streets into rivers, swallowing cars and flooding underground garages.
More than a million people were evacuated. Wenzhou alone relocated over 900,000 residents; Shanghai flooded more than 100 roads and cancelled around 1,400 flights.
Now weakening but still enormous, Dolphin is pushing inland — and Beijing is bracing for torrential rain next. ⚠️

🌪️🏜️ A wall of dust swallows Dubai.
A strong storm rolled over Margham in southeast Dubai, filling the air with sand and flying debris as winds whipped across the desert. It comes after a week of unstable weather across the UAE — with rain in the eastern regions and highs near 45°C.
The National Center of Meteorology says convective clouds, dust and scattered storms will keep forming as the peak of summer's storm season sets in. Drivers were urged to take care in the sudden low visibility. ⚠️

🌡️🇰🇷 South Korea Records Its Highest-Ever Temperature as Deadly Heatwave Intensifies

South Korea has recorded its highest temperature on record, with 42.5°C measured in Yangsan, surpassing the previous national record set only days earlier.

The extreme heat has developed into a nationwide emergency, with heat-related deaths and thousands of cases of heat illness reported since the beginning of the warm season. Seoul has also issued a severe heatwave warning as dangerous temperatures continue across the capital and other regions.

Outdoor events and sporting activities have been cancelled, while electricity demand is rising sharply as millions rely on air conditioning. Authorities are urging residents to avoid strenuous outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and check on elderly and vulnerable people.

Meteorologists say overlapping high-pressure systems have trapped hot air over the Korean Peninsula, limiting cloud formation and allowing temperatures to remain exceptionally high for several consecutive days. 🔥⚠️

🔥🌪️ A fire tornado erupts as Spokane burns.

Washington state is in a full wildfire emergency. The flames around Spokane are so intense they're creating their own winds — spinning columns of fire like this one.
Three fires — the Spokane Complex — have destroyed more than 700 homes and forced some 60,000 people to flee. Containment: zero percent. Nearly 400 square miles have burned across the state, and the National Weather Service issued a rare "Particularly Dangerous Situation" fire warning.
Remarkably, no deaths have been reported so far. A statewide burn ban is in force until October. ⚠️

🔥🚁 High Temperatures Fuel Wildfires as Two Firefighting Helicopters Collide Near Athens

A tragic accident occurred near Psatha, west of Athens, where two firefighting helicopters collided in mid-air while battling a fast-moving wildfire.

One helicopter caught fire and crashed following the collision. Two crew members were killed, while those aboard the second aircraft were rescued alive. The cause of the accident is now under investigation.

The tragedy comes as Greece continues to face dangerous wildfire conditions driven by extreme temperatures, prolonged dryness, and strong winds. Fires across the country have forced evacuations, damaged homes, and created severe risks for both residents and emergency crews.

A heartbreaking reminder of the dangers faced by firefighters working on the front lines. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those responding to the fires across Greece. 🇬🇷🕊️

🌪️🌧️ Tornado Strikes Santa Fe as Severe Storms Disrupt Buenos Aires

A tornado was observed near San Genaro and Bernardo de Irigoyen in Argentina’s Santa Fe Province as powerful thunderstorms swept across the region. Footage showed the rotating funnel crossing rural areas, while storms caused localized flooding, damaged roofs, and brought down trees and power lines.

Farther south, heavy rain and strong winds created difficult conditions across Buenos Aires, with flooded streets and major disruption to city traffic. Severe weather alerts remained in place as the unstable system continued affecting central Argentina.

The figure of 40,000 people without electricity should only be included if updated official data confirms it for this specific event.

🌪️🇺🇸 Powerful Tornado Tears Through Menasha and Wisconsin’s Fox Cities

A destructive tornado struck northeastern Wisconsin, cutting through Menasha and nearby Fox Cities communities and leaving extensive damage behind.

Homes and businesses were damaged, vehicles were overturned, trees were uprooted, and power lines were brought down. More than 30,000 customers lost electricity as debris blocked roads and emergency crews carried out searches and damage assessments.

Menasha declared a local disaster and restricted non-emergency travel, while shelters were opened for displaced residents. Initial reports indicated no fatalities, although injuries and the full scale of the damage were still being assessed.

🔥 Europe Is Burning: Massive Wildfires Force Hundreds of Thousands to Flee

France and Spain are battling some of the most destructive wildfires of the summer as extreme heat, dry vegetation, and strong winds fuel rapidly spreading flames.

🇫🇷 In southwestern France, fires around Gironde have forced around 220,000 people to evacuate, while flames have advanced to roughly 15 km from Bordeaux. Thousands of firefighters, aircraft, international crews, and military personnel have been mobilized as authorities race to contain the blaze.

🇪🇸 In Spain, a national emergency has been declared as major fires burn around Madrid and Ávila. Tens of thousands have been evacuated or confined, while several fires have merged into massive complexes that firefighters describe as extremely difficult to control.

🔥 The combination of prolonged heat, very dry landscapes, low humidity, and strong winds has created exceptionally dangerous fire conditions across southern Europe.

This summer is showing just how quickly extreme heat can turn into a major wildfire emergency. ⚠️

Heavy rain triggered major flash flooding across parts of Central Texas, with Austin dealing with high water on roads and travel disruption, while San Antonio saw more dangerous flooding impacts

In San Antonio, flood conditions became more serious, with road closures reported and at least one fatality confirmed during the event as floodwaters surged through the area.
The flooding was driven by repeated rounds of thunderstorms and deep Gulf moisture, a setup that can quickly overwhelm urban drainage systems and low-water crossings, especially in flood-prone parts of Texas.
