Helping the Older Generation.

I have recently been helping out a client who struggles with technology and they asked if I could help them set up a new computer for them.

Over a few hours I went through the setup with my client, discussing what would make things easier for them, setting up secure remote access, so I can help when its more difficult to see them. It was pleasure to help.

You can’t know it all when it comes to Technology and being open to learning helps. For instance one of my lovely clients was having issues with her emails syncing between devices. I tried a variety of things and it just wasn’t working. The day after, my client gave Apple a call and they told her to delete and reinstate the account on her phone and it started syncing again. You can always learn something new! 🙂

Protecting your precious data. Do you think about it?

We all have huge amounts of data which is personal to us. Photos, videos, music, documents, etc. all stored on our personal devices, in some cases backed up on some form of cloud storage. But should that be our only store of our precious data?

Generally the biggest problem I encounter is the lack of backup of data for a laptop/desktop computer, or in some cases not backing up regularly enough (I have had cases where the backup data was years out of date).

Most modern operating systems have some form of free backup software available. There is also paid for backup software, which is very useful when the need arises.

Over the last few months I have had the opportunity to help clients that find technology a challenge. Helping the older generation I really enjoy and I get great satisfaction when I know I have made someone’s life a little bit easier.

Recently, a client had some health issues and they were having problems seeing the laptop screen as well I they used to. Most modern Operating Systems now have a wealth of options regarding Accessibility and I was able to make the mouse pointer more visible, fonts more readable and altered colour settings to make the screen easier to see.

Helping clients such as this and seeing how happy they are, makes what I do so gratifying. As well as receiving cups of coffee and biscuits and having a good chat about the world.

Recently installed a MESH Network at a clients in Tooting. It was challenging, due to the location of the network router into the house and the internal structure, which made the signal weaker. However, after finding the right locations for each device, I had a very happy client.

I started Jason's Technology Solutions in 2021 Tooting, London, during lockdown. Many friends and members of my community were struggling with home schooling and working from home - trying to help their children join lessons, getting the right software to work remotely and to keep their businesses and families connected. I'm a technology expert and it was easy for me to connect, but I saw so many people struggling to do things which I knew I could fix. That's why I set up JTS.

I can help people make sense of technology

I also provide professional IT Support for those who don’t have it on a day to day basis, such as small businesses, freelance and contract employees. This can be provided in person or remotely. It is not a 24x7 service, but more on an adhoc basis. Whether it is setting up Apple Macs or Windows computers, I can get you up and running.

I’m passionate about reusing old technology, whenever it is possible. We throw so many 'old' computers and phones away - all full of plastics and rare metals and minerals (which can drive conflict in resource-poor countries) - when the truth is most can be easily upgraded and cheaply and be better than new. There's no need to add your phone or computer to the growing heaps of landfill.

Since starting, I have upgraded many computers bringing a new lease of life to them. Please refer to Testimonials for more details from happy clients.

I also replace batteries in Smartphones’, fix Windows and macOS issues, networking issues. If you have a problem, I can probably help you. There's nearly always a solution out there. Just ask.
