🎓 Thinking about getting another qualification to improve your chances of finding a UK job with visa sponsorship?

Before you spend the money, make sure it is actually relevant to the jobs you want.

Our new 2026 guide looks at professional qualifications across:

💷 Accounting & finance
⚙️ Engineering
📊 Project management
🔐 Cybersecurity
☁️ Cloud computing
🤖 AI & data
🏥 Healthcare

We also explain an important point that international job seekers can easily overlook: having a professional qualification does not automatically make you eligible for UK visa sponsorship.

The job, salary, employer and current visa requirements all matter.

So rather than asking, “Which certificate should I get?”, start by asking, “Which job am I trying to get?”

🎓 **What does RQF Level 6 mean for UK Skilled Worker visa sponsorship?**

If you've been searching for visa-sponsored jobs recently, you may have come across the term **RQF Level 6**.

In simple terms, RQF Level 6 is broadly equivalent to **bachelor's degree skill level**.

But here's the important part:

❌ It does NOT necessarily mean you need a bachelor's degree.

The requirement relates to the **skill level of the job**, not simply the qualifications held by the applicant.

Your occupation's SOC code helps determine its skill level and whether it can qualify for Skilled Worker sponsorship.

There are also exceptions that allow certain occupations below RQF Level 6 to remain eligible.

We've explained how it works and what job seekers should check before applying.

📋 What is a SOC code and Salary Going Rate?

If you’re applying for a UK Skilled Worker visa, understanding these two terms can save you a lot of confusion.

A SOC code identifies your occupation and helps determine whether your role is eligible for sponsorship.

A Salary Going Rate is the typical salary associated with that occupation for the Skilled Worker route.

Before accepting a sponsored job, it’s worth checking:

✔️ Your SOC code
✔️ The going rate for your occupation
✔️ Whether the salary offered meets the visa requirements

We’ve put together a simple guide explaining everything you need to know.

🚨 One of the biggest mistakes Skilled Worker visa holders can make when changing jobs?

Resigning from their current job too early.

Yes, you can change employers while on a UK Skilled Worker visa, but there are important steps you need to follow first.

If you resign too early and the job falls through or your visa application is delayed or refused, you could find yourself without employment and at risk of affecting your immigration status.

We’ve put together a practical guide covering:
✅ How to change employers on a Skilled Worker visa
✅ When to apply for your new visa
✅ When to resign from your current job
✅ Common mistakes to avoid
