Back in 2015 I had a crazy idea.

To bring the first of its kind cyber security conference to the North and base it in Leeds.

We ran them for 4 years and they were incredibly successful.

It was about doing something different and I am not going to lie, rather than sponsor events for my cyber security consultancy, it just made more sense to put the events on ourselves.

I knew what I wanted from a conference and I knew what was missing.

So I built a conference for me. And people like me.

Today that spirit lives on but it is a point in time with happy memories and a movement that lives to this day, in various guises.

2015: Inaugural launch of Cyber Security EU at Aspire Leeds, focusing on small-business defense and the human factor of data breaches.
2016: The second iteration continued at Aspire Leeds, shifting towards live hacking demonstrations.
2017: The conference moved to the aql Headquarters at Salem Chapel to prioritize GDPR readiness.
2018: Focused heavily on real-world post-GDPR regulatory realities and fine mitigation.

My take away is, be the change you want to see 🙏

I tend to work 16 hours a day, every day in 3 months sprints.

Then I take a few months down time in my happy place.

I have posted about Corfu and so I am sharing behind the scenes of our Corfu home and where I spend time when not working like a mentalist.

The life style of owning and running your own business is not for everyone. In recent times the risks are more and the rewards are way less.

But in a world where permanent jobs are no longer safe, for me I have made the right choice.

What ever your happy place, cherish it. It is won't last forever.

Blink and these moments will be gone.
