In 1957, Laika, a stray from the streets of Moscow, became the first living being to orbit the Earth. Her journey was a pioneering leap for humanity—a step toward the stars—but it came at a cost.

This illustration is my tribute to her: a small, brave soul who ventured into the unknown.

Her story is a bittersweet reminder of both our boundless curiosity and the sacrifices made along the way. Laika, forever adrift in the cosmos, is not forgotten. Her spirit lingers in the quiet beauty of the stars, inspiring us to dream while humbling us to remember the cost of those dreams.
