Sepsis increases the chance of fatal events and the overall economic burden for the system, mostly due to the time spent in the high intensive care. On average, the time spent in ICU increases by 12 days per person.

The role of the nurse is essential: are in close proximity with the patients at all moments, their role in the recognition and of people affected by sepsis is critical to save them.
