We are incredibly fortunate to be based in glorious North Wales, surrounded by beautiful mountains, lakes, rivers and remnants of ancient forests.

Nearby we work with the team at Llangollen Railway where heritage steam trains run from the town of Llangollen to Corwen, stopping off at Berwyn, Glyndyfrdwy and Carrog along the way.

Simon visited Berwyn station recently to configure a new router after assisting with the switch from copper-based ADSL broadband to new fibre internet services.

He also helped to set up new Wi-Fi networks for guests, staff and the Station Master’s House holiday let at the station.

To keep all of your information safe, you should make sure that your IT systems are backed up adequately.

Use a combination of external hard drives and cloud storage.

Test your backup solutions regularly to ensure that your backups are working as they should be and can be restored as needed.

Make sure to keep your backup methods up to date. Technology evolves all the time, so ensure that your strategies keep up with any changes too.

Computer running slowly?

Your computer may have slowed down over time due to reduced storage, outdated software, too many programs running in the background, malware or aging hardware.

Low RAM

You can check your RAM usage via Task Manager (for Windows) or Activity Monitor (for Mac) When RAM runs low you may find that programs crash or your computer freezes.

Malware

You can run a virus scan via Windows Security or Antivirus. Malware consumes CPU and can slow you down considerably.

Background Programs

Check your computer for any apps that may start automatically when you turn on your machine and run silently in the background. These apps will consume CPU and RAM.

Aging Hardware

Naturally, older systems will gradually slow down over time. Upgrading RAM can help or switching to Solid State Drive (SSD) can help.

Low Disk Space

A full drive can lead to much slower overall responsiveness. You can utilise Storage Sense or Disk Cleanup to remove unused and temporary files.

Commonly, a slow computer is caused by a combination of clutter, hardware limitations and excessive background processes.
