Moving our bodies — whether it’s a walk through Nant y Pandy, a kickabout at the park, or a gentle stretch at home — can make a real difference to how we feel. Activity helps us manage stress, connect with others, and find moments of calm when life feels heavy.

Through Hwb Môn, I’m working with local partners and communities to make movement more accessible for everyone in Llangefni — creating spaces, programmes and opportunities where people can feel supported, included and connected.

🎨 Help us pick the mural colours! / Celf Mwlral Parc Lôn Lâs – Helpwch ni i ddewis y lliwiau!

Landscaping is almost complete, pavilion repairs are underway, and the basketball hoops will be installed next week! 🏀🌱

Today I met with project artist, Celia Hume, at our 'blank canvas' in the park to talk mural designs. We have 4 distinct colour palettes, and we want YOU to help decide the winner!

We’ve started bringing colour back to Parc Lôn Las! 🌈

The banks have now been levelled and freshly turfed, creating a greener, safer space for everyone.

Next up: installing the new Basketball Wales hoops, followed by the community mural that will transform the whole tarmac into a vibrant piece of public art — shaped by local young people, schools and residents.

Parc Lôn Las — Quick Update After the Weekend!
Even though I took the weekend off, AE & AT LEWIS Ltd have been busy on site. The court area where the old play equipment was removed has now been fully repaired — a smooth, fresh surface that’s a blank canvas ready for the basketball hoops and the community mural.

North Wales Police also visited yesterday, and we’re working together on some ideas to help local young people get involved in the project.

A new accessible pathway has been opened through the pavilion building, making the viewing area easier for everyone to reach. Preparations are underway for concrete slabs where new picnic benches will sit overlooking the court, and three new sets of steps are being installed to make it easier to move around the site.

More updates coming this week as the glow‑up continues.

Parc Lôn Las — Diweddariad Cyflym ar ôl y penwythnos!
Er fy mod i wedi cymryd y penwythnos i ffwrdd, mae AE&AT Lewis wedi bod yn brysur ar y safle. Mae’r ardal lle tynnwyd yr hen offer chwarae bellach wedi’i thrwsio’n llwyr — arwyneb llyfn, ffres sy’n ganfas gwbl wag yn barod ar gyfer y pyst pêl‑fasged a’r murlun cymunedol.

Daeth Heddlu Gogledd Cymru i ymweld ddoe, ac rydyn ni’n gweithio gyda’n gilydd ar syniadau i helpu pobl ifanc lleol i gymryd rhan yn y prosiect.

Mae llwybr hygyrch newydd wedi’i agor drwy’r adeilad pafilwn, gan wneud yr ardal wylio’n haws i bawb ei chyrraedd. Mae paratoadau ar y gweill ar gyfer slabiau concrit lle bydd meinciau picnic newydd yn edrych dros y cwrt, ac mae tair set newydd o risiau yn cael eu gosod i wneud symud o gwmpas y safle’n haws.

Day 5 at Parc Lôn Las — and what a difference a week makes!
I met with Llangefni Town Council this morning to update them on progress, and I’m pleased to say everyone is really happy with how the project is moving forward.

This afternoon was “new desk day” — I set up my laptop on a picnic bench at Parc Lôn Las and worked from the site while the contractors continued storming ahead. John from AE & AT LEWIS Ltd and I touched base: the team have been repairing the area where the old play equipment was removed, laying fresh asphalt and transforming the space ready for the next phase.

Tomorrow, while AE&AT Lewis finish the asphalt repairs, I’ll be switching community hats and leading the 8th anniversary celebrations at . Whether you’re a seasoned parkrunner or a complete beginner, it’s a brilliant chance to enjoy a 5k walk or run through The Di**le with volunteers there to support you. There’ll be an extra buzz of fun — and a chance to be part of the world’s biggest community event, whether it’s your first time or your 500th.

Y prynhawn yma roedd hi’n “ddiwrnod desg newydd” — gosodais fy nghliniadur ar fainc bicnic ym Marc Lôn Las a gweithio o’r safle tra bod y contractwyr yn parhau i fynd ati’n gyflym. Rhoddodd John o AE&AT Lewis ddiweddariad i mi: mae’r tîm wedi bod yn trwsio’r ardal lle tynnwyd yr hen offer chwarae, gan osod tarmac newydd ac ail‑lunio’r gofod ar gyfer y cam nesaf.

Yfory, tra bydd AE&AT Lewis yn gorffen y gwaith tarmac, byddaf yn newid prosiectau cymunedol ac yn arwain pen‑blwydd 8 mlwydd oed Nant y Pandy parkrun. Day 4 progress at Parc Lôn Lâs! 🚜
The rest of the old play equipment has now been cleared away, and fresh topsoil has been brought in to prepare the levelled bank for turfing. It’s been a busy day with plenty of heavy machinery coming and going!

We’re making great headway and it won’t be long before we start measuring up for the new basketball court and installing the hoops! 🏀

🎾 Quick reminder: The tennis court remains Open and fully available for use throughout the works.

Day 3 at Parc Lôn Las has been another busy one.

👷Our contractors. AE & AT LEWIS Ltd, have now cleared the remaining shrubs along the roadside and begun removing the old play equipment from the area where the new basketball court and community mural will be built.

🕵️‍♀️Our information posters are now up around the site — and with the park more visible from the roadside, lots of people have been stopping to see what’s happening.

👩‍🎨This morning I spent time with our artist, reviewing the community survey results and starting to play with colour, shape and design. She’s now working on the first draft of the mural, and I’ve shared a small teaser below 👀🎨

🎾And importantly — the free‑use tennis court is still open and accessible, so feel free to come down and enjoy it while the glow‑up continues.

🌲Across the road, there’s also a beautiful entrance to the footpath leading to Coed Smyrna and the Di**le — a hidden gem many people don’t realise is right there.

More updates tomorrow as the transformation continues.

Parc Lôn Las is changing fast — today the team from AE & AT LEWIS Ltd continued clearing the site, levelling the new bench area, and lifting the old rubber play surface ready for removal.💪

This is all part of the glow‑up: a state‑of‑the‑art basketball court, improved activity spaces, and a huge community mural designed and painted with local people.

We’ll soon be inviting young people, families, and volunteers to help paint the mural and bring colour back to Parc Lôn Las.
