RFX Group launches short lead-time micro miniature crystal

RFX Group, incorporating Laptech Precision, has launched a new micro miniature ceramic packaged crystal with a footprint of just 2.05 x 1.65mm and a height of only 0.45mm. Available in fundamental mode frequencies from 12 to 96MHz, typical production quantity lead-times are only 3 to 4 weeks.

The new vacuum sealed RFX-21 with 4-pad design is available with an operating temperature range out to -40 to 85°C, an adjustment tolerance of ±20ppm at 25°C and frequency stability down to ±10ppm.

Shunt capacitance C0 is 3pF max with drive levels between 0.01mW and 0.1mW. Ageing is limited to ±3ppm per year whilst ESR is between 30Ω minimum and 180Ω maximum. In line with the requirements of the latest generation of ASICs and microprocessors, the load capacitance can be customer specified down to 8pF or Series.

The new model is fully RoHS and REACH compliant and production quantities are delivered on 8mm tape and reel with 3,000 pieces per reel. Typical applications include any product where board space is at a premium such as IoT devices, smart cards, USBs, Wi-Fi etc. For further information, visit www.rfx.co.uk.

New high frequency OCXO for Satellite, Radar and GHz Systems!

The new OS936M-10 high stability Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator (OCXO) from RFX offers frequencies up to 500MHz whilst still delivering low harmonics, extremely low ageing and excellent Allan Deviation performance. Designed around an in-house manufactured precision SC cut crystal, frequency stability is ±5ppb over a wide -40 to 65 Deg. C operating temperature range.

Harmonics in electronic circuits can cause disturbances in communication networks; the OS936M-10 limits the harmonics to -35dBc and the sub-harmonics to -40dBc. Short term ageing is ±0.1ppb maximum per day whilst long term ageing is ±80ppb maximum per year, both measures after 30 days continuous operation. In addition, the new model offers excellent phase noise performance for a multiplied frequency design at -150dBc/Hz @ 100kHz. The OS936-10M has a one second Allan Deviation of approximately 1.5x10-10 for a 400MHz output providing for a highly stable frequency source.

Both standard and custom frequencies can be manufactured from 150MHz up to 500MHz. Sine wave output compatibility is combined with a choice of supply voltages at 3.3Vd.c., 5Vd.c., or 12Vd.c. The new model is Stratum 3E compliant; long term and 24-hour holdover to Stratum 3E levels specified in GR-1244-CORE issue 2 and GR-63-CORE issue 1.

Housed in a 36 x 26.5mm hermetically sealed package with a height of only 10mm, the OS936M-10 is fully RoHS compliant and meets vibration, mechanical and thermal shock to MIL standard 202F. Design-in samples are ex-stock; lead time for production quantities is 12 weeks.

Typical applications include satellite links, radar and high frequency local oscillators (typical in up and down convertors at the first stage) for GHz systems. RFX Group, incorporating Laptech Precision, has agreed a global distribution agreement with Digi-Key Electronics who will sell RFX’s full range of precision low phase noise OCXOs and PLL Oscillators.
