🚀✨ AI just keeps leveling up! On the final day of OpenAI’s 12 Days of Shipmas, they dropped a bombshell: the release of o3, their next-gen foundation model, built for multi-step reasoning and tackling complex tasks. 🤖💡

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman summed it up perfectly during Friday’s livestream:
“This is the beginning of the next phase of AI, where these models can handle increasingly complex reasoning-heavy tasks.”
And it’s no small feat! The o3 model outshines its predecessor in areas like advanced coding, math, and science. 🌌📐 Compared to o1, it’s three times better at answering ultra-hard questions from ARC-AGI—a rigorous benchmark for AI logic and math challenges. 🤯📊
Here’s the mind-blowing kicker from the ARC-AGI team:
* o3 hit 75.7% on the Semi-Private Evaluation leaderboard at their public $10k compute limit.
* A high-compute version (172x) scored an insane 87.5%! 🎯🔥
For context, GPT-3 in 2020 scored 0%, and even GPT-4o in 2024 only hit 5%. That’s four years of baby steps, now completely shattered by o3. The AI game has officially changed. ⚡🌍

But here’s the real kicker:
o3 addresses a core limitation of past language models—their struggle to recombine knowledge during testing. Instead, it uses something called LLM-guided natural language program search to break new ground. This isn’t just an upgrade; it’s a paradigm shift that deserves serious scientific attention. 🧠🔬
Two versions of the model are out there—o3 and o3-mini—but OpenAI hasn’t made them public yet. They’re letting select outsiders apply for testing. 🛠️✨
