So many of us are mourning Tim Curry, in a week heavy with heroes passings 💔
You may not know but one of my earliest collections was a fandom tribute to ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW 👄
I fell in love with the show as a teen after seeing it with my mum, just a few years before she passed 💔and as an awkward teen outcast who was badly bullied (hello undiagnosed ND) it really resonated with me.
Tim Curry had frequently popped up in some of my fave films as a kid - Legend, The Worst Witch, Clue and obvs RHPS and I guess he became somebody I took a lot of comfort from 📼
(*Obviously those Films were made some time ago and there are some controversial scenes and attitudes portrayed that haven’t aged well - so if you are watching them, please bear in mind.)
When I started this account in 2016 it was an outlet for me from my graphic design job - and in 2017 I was decided to make a pin collection about something I loved - so I designed my own Rocky Horror adjacent pins.
I’d never felt community on social media before but through that I connected with so many fellow RHPS fans ❤️who, in turn found my work for the first time ❤️ I couldn’t even foresee the impact of and the trajectory that pin design would take me on ❤️I defo ‘borrowed’ some of the RHPS sparkle ✨
I sold out of the collection in 2018 and kept just one of the original designs from that collection 🎟️ the Science Fiction ticket design, once a pin, now a keychain - based on the intro song from RHPS - it’s a lovely nod to the movie and show 🎟️
Weirdly I got a restock of these arrive literally within an hour of the announcement of Tim Curry’s passing… weird coincidence.
This was also the first of my designs to be prolifically stolen, reproduced and copied. It pretty much took on a life of its own!
😬🎟️🤷♀️just goes to show how popular RHPS has become ❤️
Not only did fans of the show by the collection, but so many people who performed in the actual productions purchase these for the cast members.
I really wish I could’ve gotten one to Tim Curry before he passed 💔 his portrayal of Frank-N-Furter had such a positive impact on people he never even knew to be your own unique self, unapologetically 🌈 the
