It’s the most frustrating problem to have as a business.
Competing on price.
You spend weeks, sometimes months, trying to win a piece of work.
You take the calls.
You answer the questions.
You put the proposal together.
You explain how you’d approach it.
You show them what makes you different.
You know you’d do a better job.
Then the decision comes back.
They’ve gone with someone cheaper.
Horrendously frustrating.
Especially when you know the cheapest quote probably isn’t the best option for them.
But…to be fair… we also need to look at ourselves to see why we were competing with these low ballers in the first place.
If a customer can only see the difference between you and a competitor in the price, then somewhere along the way, you haven’t given them enough reasons to value the difference.
That could mean repositioning your business around your expertise rather than the service you sell.
It could mean making the knowledgeable people inside your business more visible.
And it definitely means showing more proof of your track record and the results you have provided clients.
Anything that makes someone think “These people know what they’re doing. Going with the cheaper option suddenly feels like the riskier decision.”
It’s actually changed what I want my own business to focus on.
For years, I would have described what I do as improving brands, managing marketing, creating content or helping businesses with their communications.
All true.
But they’re not really the end result I’m interested in anymore.
I want to specialise in one problem:
STOP COMPETING ON PRICE.
Because a lot of the work I’ve been doing for businesses for years ultimately comes back to that.
So I’ve built something slightly different around it.
There are no packages.
No generic marketing plan.
And no strings attached.
Answer four questions on our website about the problem you’re having and I’ll personally look at your business and write a bespoke proposal explaining how I think I could help you stop competing on price.
You can take the ideas and do absolutely nothing with them if you want.
But if you’re sick of putting huge amounts of work into winning business, only to watch the contract disappear because somebody knocked a few quid off the quote...
It might be worth answering the four questions.
