Support for young business owners

The Prince’s Trust and NatWest £5 million Enterprise Relief Fund will offer grants to 18 to 30-year olds across the UK who are self-employed and/or running their own business. In conjunction with cash grants, the initiative will offer one-to-one support. Find out more here.

Artists creatives

Arts Council England have re-purposed all their investment in response to the Covid-19 crisis to create two emergency funding streams to support both individual artists/creative practitioners/freelancers (up to £2,500) and organisations (up to £35,000).

Voluntary/Charity/Third sector support – Emergency Funds for Voluntary & Community Groups:

The fund, of up to £1 million a week for an initial 12 weeks, is open to charities and not for profit organisations across the region (Merseyside, Cheshire (west of M6) & North Wales) to help with the costs of additional emergency services to support people affected by the virus; it will also help charities experiencing a loss of fundraising revenue to stay in business.

Applicant organisations need to have been operating before April 2018.

Key on-line application questions (each response 100 words max) include:

• Please tell us about your organisation, its aims and main activities.

• What measures are you taking within your organisation to maintain services during the current crisis?

• Please tell us why you need the money

• What will you use the emergency funding for to help your community in hardship as a result of Covid-19?

• Where else have you applied for emergency funding, amount requested and when you can expect a decision?

• How many people will directly benefit from this project?

You will also need to detail the following along with supporting documentation:

• Amount requested (initially over 12-week period)

• Total expenditure last financial year

• Amount of Unrestricted Reserves

• Total budget (expenditure) for 2019/20

This local fund welcomes applications from small and medium sized Merseyside charities operating in any Merseyside borough. Its funding can provide help as you deliver new programmes to reach people affected by the pandemic, or help keep your vital charity services running

· Resources for specific community-based activities

· Supplies for beneficiaries i.e. emergency food, toiletries, household products or other items

· Help with running costs or overheads due to a disruption to existing services

· Support for salary or volunteer costs to keep a service functioning

· Assistance to deliver a service differently or to reach more people needing help

To be eligible for an emergency grant, you must be a registered charity in Merseyside with an income under £1 million.

P H Holt will fund activities in one or more of the five metropolitan boroughs. Grants start at £1,000 with most awards falling between £5,000-£10,000.

National Funds:

National Lottery Community Fund

All National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF) funding decisions in the next six months (up to £300m of funding) will be devoted to responding to the COVID-19 crisis. The NLCF will prioritise existing grant holders and applicants with activities specifically geared to supporting communities through this crisis, and helping organisations overcome liquidity issues caused by COVID-19.

Leathersellers’ Company Charitable Fund

The Leathersellers’ Company has launched a fast track application process for one-off grants of up to £3,000. It could be particularly useful for funding small projects or to cover unexpected costs arising from COVID-19. Applications are open to UK registered charities who support:

– the homeless or those at risk of becoming homeless;

– provision of food and essential supplies;

– victims of domestic violence;

– nursing care to vulnerable patients.

The Yapp Charitable Trust

The Yapp Charitable Trust has invited small UK charities affected by the impact of COVID-19 to apply for grants of up to £3,000. Registered charities in England and Wales, with a total annual expenditure of less than £40,000, can apply for funding for core costs and staffing.

Heritage Emergency Fund

The National Lottery Heritage Fund has announced a £50m fund to support the heritage sector as an immediate response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The Fund is available to organisations across the full breadth of heritage. Organisations which are either a current grantee, or still under contract following a previous grant, can apply.

Clothworkers’ Emergency Capital Programme1

The Clothworkers’ Emergency Capital Programme (CECP) will award small capital grants of up to £5,000 for essential capital items to adapt or increase services in response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Visit their website for details on eligibility and key features of the fund.

Innovate UK Smart Grants: January 2020 Deadlne: 22 April 2020 Smart is the new name for Innovate UK’s ‘Open grant funding’ programme. Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, is investing up to £25 million in the best game-changing and commercially viable innovative or disruptive ideas. All proposals must be business focused. Applications can come from any area of technology and be applied to any part of the economy. More details here
