Another great project we’ve been involved with at Lincs-3D 🚜

We’ve been working alongside HarvestEye on the production of custom 3D printed enclosures for their handheld agricultural technology devices.
For this latest version, we produced the outer casing along with several additional internal components, helping bring the handheld unit from concept through to functional product.

The project involved:
• CAD design refinement
• Prototype development
• Functional 3D printed production parts
• Large-format and precision additive manufacturing

It’s always rewarding seeing 3D printing used in real-world applications — especially within modern agricultural technology where rapid development, iteration, and lightweight durable components are so important.
We’ve previously worked on earlier versions of the product too, and it’s been great to see the continued evolution of the system over time.
Looking forward to sharing more from this project soon 👀

Restoring history with modern manufacturing 🇬🇧

We recently had the opportunity to support a passionate World War II collector on a unique project in Lincoln — producing an oversized replacement air box for a tracked military vehicle.

The component was thoughtfully redesigned by the client and his daughter, combining historical accuracy with practical improvements. Once we received the file, our role was to bring it to life using large-format additive manufacturing.

Given the scale of the part, we utilised our Prusa XL printer and produced the air box in PETG, with a total fabrication time exceeding 24 hours. Following printing, the part was carefully primed and painted before being installed on the vehicle — ready to return to service as part of a living piece of history.

Projects like this highlight the power of 3D printing in restoration work:
✔ Recreating hard-to-source or obsolete components
✔ Enabling rapid turnaround from digital design to physical part
✔ Supporting preservation of historic machinery for future generations

A great collaboration and a fantastic result.

Throwback to a great project from August 2025 🚆

We worked with Davey Wagon Services Ltd on producing a set of train components for use in a staff training environment in Immingham.

The brief was to recreate existing parts in a safer, more practical format for classroom use — removing the risks associated with handling original metal components, such as sharp edges and weight.

Our process:
• 3D scanning the original parts
• Reverse engineering the geometry
• Producing full-scale models using large-format 3D printing (Prusa XL)

The result was a set of accurate, lightweight training aids that allow hands-on learning without compromising safety.

Project Details:
📍 Location: Immingham
🛠 Skills: 3D Scanning, Reverse Engineering, 3D Printing
⏱ Design Time: 12 hours
🖨 Print Time: 24+ hours

We’ve recently completed more work with Davey Wagon Services Ltd, with additional parts scanned, engineered, and printed — keep an eye out for our next post 👀

Onix!! We can get really creative with any ideas you have. We turned Joe into the Pokémon Onix. The structure means the parts are movable meaning these can double as fidget toys for those of us that love to fiddle mindlessly with objects.
