I’m delighted to share my recent qualification. Our training continues through the NIC EIC, who were exceptional throughout this three-day course. The tutor was incredibly informative and patient, possessing a wealth of knowledge and fostering a welcoming environment for questions. As an electrician with over 20 years of experience, my foundation level two and three qualification were due to expire. Therefore, this qualification is essential for maintaining my status as a qualified supervisor with the NIC EIC for our company. This is crucial for our sector’s growth.

Although our field electricians already hold this formal qualification and are Electrician Gold Card registered, I believe it is crucial for me to maintain up-to-date knowledge of BS7671 through formal qualifications such as this or our monthly continuing professional development programme. This ensures industry standards are always met and our company operates efficiently, safely and effectively.

In addition to our registration with the Domestic Installer Scheme and the Approved Contractor Scheme, we’re now registering with the Rented Sector Scheme via the NIC EIC. This registration will offer further clarity and confidence for our customers when booking Electrical inspections (EICRs) with us. We’re confident our combined qualifications and training will ensure we deliver the very highest standards of service.

I’m grateful to Lee, our tutor, for his expertise and relatable background. He made the course enjoyable. I also thank all the other participants; they were a great group of lads.

Yesterday, we were thrilled to receive this recognition for being a proud member of the NICEIC Approved Contractors Scheme for the past decade. Their invaluable guidance and unwavering support have been instrumental in our business growth. The NICEIC has consistently been our preferred source for acquiring new qualifications in the sector due to their exceptional staff and well-equipped training facilities conveniently located near our base.

Our journey with the NICEIC began in 2008. After completing three years as an apprentice with an Electrical company in Watford and obtaining my City and Guilds qualifications, I approached the NICEIC to acquire a domestic installer qualification to start my own business. Six years later, through hard work, gaining experience, and the invaluable assistance of their annual assessors at the NICEIC, we successfully upgraded to the approved contractor scheme. This advancement allowed us to also undertake compliant electrical works on commercial and industrial premises, as well as domestic, providing us with a competitive edge and enhancing our credibility, which has been pivotal for our business’s growth and success.

Our current company ethos emphasises that all our staff undergo regular training similar to what I received. Additionally, they are required to maintain up-to-date continuing professional development (CPD) records. This is achieved through the NICEIC Live webinars or formal qualifications at their training facilities in Dunstable. By implementing this approach, our company ensures that we are well-prepared to handle any electrical task that may arise.
