At the time, it probably made perfect sense.

You were upgrading.

Not the expensive ones.
Not the latest flagship model.

The pair that started it all.

Maybe they were proper DJ headphones...
Maybe they were borrowed from your parents' hi-fi.
Maybe they only worked in one ear.
Maybe they were held together with tape.
Or maybe they were a pair you "borrowed" and never gave back... 😅

Whatever they were, they were there for those first nervous mixes, first bedroom sets, first parties and those moments when you realised...

"This is what I want to do."

Some of those old headphones probably wouldn't survive a 10-minute set today... but at the time they were everything.
