October is Cyber Security Awareness Month and, for manufacturers, the ERP sits right at the centre of the conversation.

Your ERP holds your customers, suppliers, pricing, stock and finances. If it goes down or ends up in the wrong hands, production stops and cash flow soon follows. Yet the ERP is often the last system to feature in a security review.

Five questions worth asking this month:
1. Is your Syspro version current and supported?
2. Do your operators have only the access their role needs?
3. Are leavers removed from the system promptly?
4. Are your backups tested and stored separately from your live environment?
5. Do you know what is connected to your ERP through integrations and third-party tools?

None of these need a big budget. They just need someone to sit down and ask.

Final month to move your Syspro licence to the new subscription model:

If you're running Syspro under the Annual Licence Fee model, this is the final month to act.

Syspro is discontinuing the Initial Licence Fee and Annual Licence Fee model in favour of a named user subscription platform. If your business is based in the UK or Ireland, your current licence expires on 31 October 2026. Without a new subscription agreement in place by that date, access to Syspro will stop.

With October now the final month to convert, it's worth getting this sorted sooner rather than later. One change worth knowing about is that the new subscription model includes all standard modules as one price, with no separate per module pricing to work out.

Behind the scenes at HIT Technology right now:

It's a busy time for the team. Right now we've got more than 10 projects running at once across new Syspro implementations, system upgrades, integration work and consultancy helping manufacturers improve their processes.

Every project looks different. Some customers are moving onto Syspro for the first time, some are upgrading systems that have served them well for years, some need Syspro connected up to other systems in their business, and others are working with us purely on process improvement to get more out of what they already have.

What ties it all together is the same thing that's driven HIT Technology since 2008. Real partnership, hands on expertise and a genuine understanding of what SME manufacturers need from their ERP.

3 signs your Syspro system isn't being used to its full potential:

A lot of manufacturers are sitting on more capability than they realise. Here are three signs it might be time for a closer look.

1️⃣ Your team is still exporting to Excel and rebuilding the same reports every week. If reporting means waiting on someone else to pull data, you're leaving time on the table that Syspro should already be saving you.

2️⃣ Nobody can remember the last time a module was reviewed. Systems evolve fast and features that weren't relevant three years ago might be exactly what your operation needs now.

3️⃣ Decisions are still based on gut feel rather than live data. If your team can't see what's happening on the shop floor in real time, the system isn't working as hard as it could be.

If any of these sound familiar, it's worth a conversation. Sometimes the fix is smaller than you'd think.

HIT Technology is a Syspro Premium Solutions Partner and we're hiring a Finance Focused ERP Consultant.

This role is for a qualified finance professional (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent by experience) who wants to step away from the month-end cycle and use their knowledge of ledgers, controls and reporting to help SME manufacturers and distributors get more from their finance systems.

You don't need ERP consultancy or Syspro experience. We'll provide full training in both.

💷 £40,000 to £50,000 (full time equivalent)
🏠 Fully remote or from our office near Leicester

Along the way he set personal bests at 10k, 15k, 10 miles, 20k and the half marathon distance.

He's already setting his sights on his next challenge. Gareth will be taking on the Norfolk 50 Ultra Challenge in June 2027, covering 50km to raise money for Dementia UK, a cause that's close to his heart.

Talking of his achievements and future plans, Gareth commented “This isn't just about running further, it's about proving to myself that I can keep pushing when things get difficult.”
