What a start to 2026… and it’s only mid-January!

Slightly chaotic, but a lot to be grateful for.

✅Signed on two new clients – really excited to work with them as they are collaborative and passionate people

🎙️Lining up a couple of podcast appearances – I’m really excited about this as I get to share ideas and connect with the audience

🌍Arranged to do an International SEO masterclass with SEO Brein - via the hard-working mastermind Jeroen Stikkelorum – really looking forward to connecting with that audience!

🤝Caught up with brilliant people to compare notes on freelancing, productivity, SEO and AI strategy, and just bants!: Hollie Hines, and

🧘‍♂️Finished a TM (Transcendental Meditation) course with Karen House (she's great btw, connect with her if interested in meditation), and even ended up doing a group meditation session today with two of my office buds who also do TM (long story)!

Not a typical start to the year for me tbh, but I’m taking the wins and leaning into the momentum baby!

I'm terrible at doing 'reflection and planning' stuff during Xmas break!

Not that you need to do that, but with my business hat on, I would like to!

It's often my longest break in the year and I always put pressure on myself to RELAX, reflect on the year, and think about my next targets.

(btw, shoutout to my sister in-law for the 'targets' theme and pic - from our family day out shooting stuff (and each other!).

Anyway, this Xmas I decided to strip it back and do a few things, but to not beat myself up if I dont do them all:

🙋‍♂️Acknowledge 2025 wins & lessons: I made some really cool gains but didnt have the time to process and appreciate them all: from winning 2x new contracts recently, attending podcasts, and getting some really good client feedback.

✍️List stuff that contributes towards my ‘foundational happiness’: my PT Simon mentioned his the other day, as a way to focus on the healthy and productive stuff that'll result in proper happiness (e.g., for me: NOT doom, sleep, reading, working out, eating right, etc).

✍️List realistic goals for 2026: stop 'shooting' myself in the foot by listing lots of ideal stuff and focus on the core things that'll make my business and 'foundational happiness'.

🧘‍♂️I'm starting over the break!: I've always wanted to do it, and it's part of my plan to help improve my mental, emotional and spiritual capacity.

Merry Christmas and an early Happy New Year y'all!

If you're still working until 23rd/24th - I'm right there with you! Just wanted to catch the early finishers before you physically and mentally check out - I hope you have a great break.

I'm looking forward to disconnecting, family/mates time, food-comas, LOTR extended version, a random half marathon, and using the time to think about 2026 business-y stuff!

😃Grew my revenue year on year: I hate discussing this out loud (🤞) And, it hasn’t been a straight line! But, after developing a lead gen machine I feel confident about growing this🙏

✍️LESSONS

1 # its flipping lonely sometimes. And, especially early on - the uncertainty about filling the next 6 months with work kept me up at night! But, doing it for 'my business' makes it exciting and gratifying.

2 # I need to ‘go to work’: home and Starbucks weren’t cutting it. I need routine and people/a professional vibe. The is great for that! It’s such a creative and active space.

3 # There’s room for everyone: 17 years in and imposture syndrome still rears its ugly, illogical head sometimes! Especially when pitching against agencies. But, there’s enough work for everyone, plus - and I actually said this to myself recently before a conference talk – “you know your s**t man, relax!”.

4 # Peace of mind has more equity than money: I burnt out a few times early on and decided to draw a line on how much capacity and negativity I accept, just for extra cash.

It's my first proper week back in an office since LOCKDOWN 2020!

I've been freelancing for the last three years and was lacking a bit of structure and well, human contact!

My fellow office dwellers: you have been so lucky to have access to people, instant knowledge sharing, and structure!

Anyway, I looked to recapture all that, and I have at . I'm in a business suite with other great freelancers, and after a few days I'm already feeling the benefits:
- the structure of having somewhere to work
- a friendly and collaborative environment
- plenty of alternative spaces to work
- access to support groups and other businesses to potentially collab with

I'm really looking forward to becoming a part of the vibrant Leicester business community and the LCB is definitely a great place for that!
