What do you do to celebrate 40 years of Martin Oates?

Notorious for great shirts, and a beard any indie band member would envy, there was only one thing to do…

Become Martin.

So, to surprise him for his birthday, the Pixelbuilders team dusted off the loudest shirts they could find, stuck on some questionable facial hair and committed to the look.

All jokes aside, Martin has played a huge part in shaping Pixelbuilders into the business it is today, and we couldn’t let such a milestone go by without celebrating the man behind it.

POV: you get your nails done but forget you’re a social media manager.

Everything was going great. The shot was looking good. The content was contenting.

Then we spotted it. Cue the Jaws theme. 🦈

Rest assured, no content was harmed and a new shot was filmed, but we thought this take was too funny to retire just yet.

AI is giving us plenty to think about at the moment.

So, naturally, we’re sending Martin, our Technical Director, to the Greenhouse AI show ‘n’ tell in Leeds to see how other businesses are using AI.

These sessions have become a regular fixture in Martin’s calendar and a great opportunity to swap ideas, pick up a few useful tricks and generally get stuck into the conversation.

At Pixelbuilders, we’re exploring where AI can bring something genuinely useful to the digital projects we work on. So, we’re looking forward to seeing what’s working, what’s worth trying and what might spark inspiration.

Houston, we have a new client. 🚀

We’re really pleased to welcome Apollo Cloud to Pixelbuilders.

This one’s been a little while in the making. We’ve known the team since our days at The Tannery, and have crossed paths plenty of times over the years. Now, we get to work on something together too.

We’re already getting stuck in, with plenty in the pipeline, and we’re looking forward to sharing more of what we’re working on.

If you're already being asked, "So, what are we doing for the Christmas do?", we've got an idea.

We're incredibly proud to be sponsoring The Velvet Noir Ball in support of Cystic Fibrosis Care - an evening of great food, brilliant entertainment and fundraising for a cause that really matters.

One table can fund a PARI eFlow rapid nebuliser for someone living with cystic fibrosis, while the money raised on the night will help purchase a new Tosca monitoring device for the CF Ward at St James's Hospital in Leeds.

Helping students find somewhere to call home is something we're proud to be part of.

We've loved working with Unipol Student Homes to bring the new National Code website to life, making it easier for students to find trusted, accredited accommodation, while helping accommodation providers showcase recognised standards.

As a Leeds-based agency, we're lucky to be based in one of the UK's biggest student communities, so this project felt particularly close to home.

Cubert got a taste for Umbraco at Codegarden... and last night, he got a taste for the BBQ too. 🍔

Andy, Matt and Joe headed to Shears Yard for the annual Umbraco Leeds Summer Social, catching up with familiar faces, meeting new ones and enjoying a well-earned evening in the sunshine.

One of the best things about the Umbraco community is how welcoming it is. Whether it's your first event or your fiftieth, there's always someone happy to chat, share ideas and make you feel part of it.

Safe to say Cubert left with a full belly, a few new friends and an even bigger appreciation for the Umbraco community.
