One of our customers called at us 7:30 am to alert us that their Brian James trailer had been stolen from their yard some time over night from an area near Cardiff. We immediately moved the tracker to alarm mode, and notified our South Wales contact Gavin Hughes to go to the new reporting location, which was only a few miles down the road.

The customer called a nearby scrap yard asking for any information on his trailer, and he came back and said that a nearby group of individuals were demanding £2500 to return it!

Gavin picked up the RF signal shortly after, nearby the cell site, and was able to quickly get police attendance, which sorted this situation out entirely. Together, they were able to recover it relatively easily, along with TWO other stolen trailers from other non-customers!

We’re excited to be exhibiting at the 'Future of Construction' event at the Fareham Innovation Centre — right here where Automatrics Limited is based! 👷🚜

We are here showcasing why tracking construction equipment is becoming increasingly important and how aftermarket technology can help businesses keep better control of their valuable assets and improve security - this is backed by over 50 recovery videos focused on stolen plant equipment.

Plant theft cost the UK industry over £1 billion in 2025, and it seems to be growing, so don't underestimate the importance of a Stolen Vehicle Recovery system.

We often get asked — especially on YouTube — whether our recoveries ever lead to arrests or prosecutions.

While we don’t always get notified about what happens after a recovery, in this case we did.

This recent stolen tools theft ultimately led to a prosecution, and we’ve shared a fully redacted court outcome to show that recoveries can and do lead somewhere.

There were two similar sentences (we have only shown one)

It's not everyday that you have Police forces proactively climbing roofs to help you find a stolen car! 😅

A Stolen Audi Q7 theft recovery operation was needed following an overnight theft, stolen through a burglary in Epsom. We received a tamper notification and contacted the owner who confirmed his car, along with other items had been stolen. We were feared the tracker could have been ripped off and tossed as the tracker was giving a group of GPS signals in the same location, in what looked to be a private residence garage.

We have posted this full recovery, from start to finish, on YouTube. An interesting and somewhat unusual theft recovery operation from Automatrics!

What a busy few days in Barcelona! We met some fantastic people at Geotab Connect and gained valuable insights into the evolving fleet industry. Fortunately, nothing was stolen whilst we were away!

As a stolen vehicle recovery company, staying close to developments in fleet technology, telematics, and connected vehicle solutions is incredibly important to us. It was great to hear different perspectives, learn more about the challenges fleet operators are facing, and explore how innovation continues to shape the industry.

A big thank you to everyone we spoke with throughout the event (and Danny for coming with us) — we appreciated the conversations and new connections made along the way. See you next year in Paris!

Danny Recovering TWO stolen vehicles stashed in the back of a shipping container 🤷‍♂️. Whilst the container effectively blocked the GPS signals, Danny was able to search the reporting cell area with the RF receiving equipment to pinpoint the exact location they were both stashed.

Whilst only the Range Rover - a hire car equipped with our MTrack unit - was actively being tracked by our team, the operation also led to the fortunate recovery of a stolen Toyota Hilux belonging to another unsuspecting owner. A great result all round, with two vehicles recovered and returned due to the combination of experience and our ultimate tracking solution - these would've been shipped out of the UK ASAP and dismantled into thousands of parts

Big thanks to Adam Gibson, the Police , Danny and the hire company for all attending and proactively helping recover these vehicles!

Surprise Surprise, another Range Rover stolen!

We had a notification from one of our trackers that the device had been disturbed in Edinburgh on the 29th April; our immediate thought was that it could've been involved in an accident as it was 14:30 in the afternoon. We investigated the tracking data and realised there were some discrepancies to indicate that the car may have been stolen and wanted to highlight this to the customer. We didn't get an immediate response from this customer due to it being a hire car and them having to contact the client. We elevated our concerns and were keen to get a reply back from the customer, who eventually replied that after a quick glance out of the window, the Range Rover was in fact gone - stolen from his house without the keys.

We contacted Ashley from NCATT, who co-ordinated a response from Police Scotland. With all our data, it only took 20 minutes to get an officer to the last location that the device reported to (the car park seen below) where the Range Rover was found 'cooling off'

Very unusual theft in this scenario as it was done in the mid afternoon in broad daylight, from the house without the keys. Many thanks to Ashley and Police Scotland for helping this recovery.

Additionally, we released a new YouTube video on Friday containing a stolen Telehandler in London. Automatrics MTrack on YouTube for those who don't follow us on there!

What a week... We received a call just after 8:00am from a Plant Hire customer reporting that a £7,500 Terex 1T dumper had been stolen. This customer had a wired unit, so we activated it immediately - within minutes we had a cell location in Bridgend, but no GPS, which led us to believe it was hidden in the back of a van and a Radio Finder would be required.

We immediately contacted NaVCIS liaison officer Gavin Hughes (equipped with our radio receiver) and directed him to the last known cell location. We prepared to deploy due to believing it could be a difficult recovery requiring a search. Gavin attended the area and identified a nearby police yard, where he made further inquiries with officers on site.
It was then established that a Transit van had been recovered earlier that morning after breaking down on the motorway whilst displaying false plates. The vehicle had been seized and brought into the yard for inspection

Despite attempts to conceal the dumper’s identity, the stolen Terex 1T dumper was located in the back of the stolen van and positively identified.

The dumper was successfully recovered in Bridgend, with the information we provided assisting police in progressing their investigation into both the stolen vehicle and the wider theft.

Big thanks to both South Wales Police and Navcis for aiding this recovery!

A very busy Monday morning recovering £200,000 worth of vehicles! One of our customers, a car hire company, called us at 7:00am to report TWO cars stolen with the keys following a Burglary in Warrington. A 2024 Audi R8 and a 2026 BMW X5. From our tracking data, We could see that both of these cars were stolen early in the morning from the same address, along with excessive speeds from the Audi R8.

We immediately coordinated with the hire company to deploy two teams, as both vehicles had been moved to two different “cool-off” locations. This allowed us to plan a controlled recovery, positioning both teams to block the vehicles in simultaneously and prevent any further movement.

Both cars were successfully contained within 30 minutes, highlighting the advantages of having our Automatrics MTrack 7 dual layered system. The teams maintained their positions on-site for approximately two hours until spare keys were delivered, ensuring the vehicles could be safely recovered without risk. On inspection, there was no visible damage to either vehicle; however, both will undergo key reprogramming before being returned to service.

Due to the ongoing investigation, the images used of the vehicles in this report are stock representations and not of the actual vehicles involved, as we are unable to release specific identifying details at this stage.

We received a call at 8:45am from one of our car hire customers reporting that an £85k 2024 Range Rover had been stolen overnight at around 22:15, without the keys.

We immediately contacted one of our NaVCIS liaison officers, Adam Gibson, who quickly deployed two units to the location. Suffolk Police arrived within around 20 minutes and successfully boxed the Range Rover in on the driveway where it had been abandoned.

The vehicle was recovered within 45 minutes, with Suffolk Police now leading the investigation. On inspection, there was the usual damage found to these Range Rovers, in search for tracking devices, along with pulling down the roof lining under the JLR antenna.

The customer also reported the loss of a laptop, gym bag, and umbrella. It is suspected a GPS jammer may have been used, as the live trackers signal dropped out at the point of theft and only resumed once the vehicle was recovered.

Overall, a very fast response from all parties and a positive recovery outcome, and many thanks again to Adam Gibson and Sargent Dave Logan at Suffolk police
