Interesting job to start the week, setup of a satellite branch for IWS Recruit in Preston. Great to see a local company spreading out a little.

Today..... A design job for a local company, and by far what I would say is a harder one. Designing a dark website is especially hard (in my opinion) expecially when using high contrast colours but I'll make it work using background shading to reduce the amount of solid block colour. Doing all these websites is making me think that out own website is looking dated 😂

This will be a database driven website written specifically for this customer to keep it lightweight and fast. Woocommerce was an option but its just so bloated.

Well can safely say that even running all the servers including charging the backup power systems that planb is net-positive. The solar is powering all the systems in the office.... with energy to spare.

Next thing on the list is getting some new Li-Ion batteries to start storing this excess energy to level out consumption over the full day.

Taking into account the servers that we host on our hypervisiors we are not just net-zero we save a total of 3.6kw an hour that would be used on our customer sites if they had onsite servers not to mention cooling etc.

Another website live, this one for a local therapist. Its been a nice one to work on as the client had a clear vision on what they wanted. It always makes the job easier.

Take a look at https://www.tasharosecounsellingtherapies.com for more information on services offered.

Rolling out a messenger app for internal use by the staff to help with communication. This is also mobile compatible, and yes it looks like a familiar app we all know but that was to keep it simple to use.

Quick leased line repair this morning, well by repair i mean diagnostic. Turns out after talking to the carrier and there being nothing wrong one of the fibre cables was damaged and some of the RJ45 cabling was lets say interesting. New fibre dropped in and tested and getting the full speed now.

Its been busy this month at planb, we have had a few leased line installs. Attending a school in Fleetwood out of term time to upgrade servers, some programming and the usual data recovery jobs all being topped off with out work Insignia sadly dying so you may not see our car out and about like usual.

However the replacement work vehicle is here and it will be getting a livery soon enough.

Another week and another data recovery job, the key to successful recovery is to stop using the failed device immediately. Continued use reduced the chances of a successful recovery. As it happens thats exactly what this user did they stopped using it and contacted us. As a result we have recovered all the data successfully.

Latest project completed... this time for IWS Recruit aka Industrial Work Solutions on whitelund. This has been an interesting project as they had a very clear brief which made the project easier as it takes the guess work out of it.

It's not just desktop computers, laptops, and servers that we work on. Most equipment today runs on some form of Linux, Android, or Windows — and that includes industrial machinery.

Today's challenge was a Windows-based lathe. This particular unit runs Windows 7 Professional from an mSATA drive buried deep inside the machine.

The problem was a failing mSATA disk, but after a couple of hours of work we were able to recover the file system and migrate it onto a SATA SSD for testing. Everything is running perfectly again — all that's left is imaging it back onto a fresh mSATA drive and reinstalling the unit.

Back in business!
