Your Black Friday budget's about to go up, and some of it's already wasted ↓

In Black Friday week everyone bids harder, so every pound buys less. Any spend that's already wasted costs you more that week than in any other week of the year.

πŸ’‘ Andy Lowdon on the Saturday mistake that can sink a Black Friday faster than the ads.

Your 20% Black Friday discount needs more orders than you think.

Say your average order's Β£100 at 40% margin, 20% off halves your Β£40 and you can need twice the orders to match a normal week's profit.

Pick 1 job for the discount: volume, margin, new customers or clearance. Set your floor before anyone builds the campaign.

πŸ’‘ Andy Lowdon on why Black Friday is a margin decision before it's a marketing one.

Make this Black Friday profitable, not just busy.

Your ad platform is doing exactly what your ROAS target told it to.

Set a strict target and it only chases the surest sales, then sits out everything else and reports a great ROAS for doing it.

πŸ’‘ Ryan Hakeney on why the ROAS looks great every month and revenue doesn't move.

3 pricing tricks backed by behavioural science ↓

How you word a price, and where you put it, changes what people do.

β†’ Loss aversion. Same 75 cents both times. "Don't lose it" converted 61% of people, "save it" got 39%.
β†’ The penny gap. A $1 trial beats a free one. People who paid $1 go on to pay full price at 5 to 10x the rate.
β†’ Price placement. Put the price below the product, lower on the page reads as cheaper.

πŸ’‘ Marisa Crimlis-Brown on why losing something hurts about twice as much as gaining it feels good.

The target was 15,000 tickets, we sold 26,000.

Same budget as year one.

The Great Caravan, Motorhome & Holiday Home Show was a young event with a premium price point, and a market squeezed by the cost of living.

More spend wasn’t the answer, better use of it was.

What changed:

β†’ The ticket page became a page that sold the day
β†’ Countdowns went live as show day got close
β†’ Budget moved from awareness to conversion at the right moment

Your Meta account looks thorough, and that's what's slowing it down.

Split audiences and stacked interests used to be the job, now they thin out the data Meta needs to find your buyers.

The work moved upstream into how many genuinely different concepts you feed the system, and downstream into reading which ones earned their spend.

Consolidate first, then put the saved hours into new concepts rather than new ad sets. πŸ’‘

3 behavioural science principles used by brands every day ↓

Credibility isn't a tone of voice. It's a set of decisions most brands make backwards.

1. Precision effect: 39.6% beats 40%, because round numbers read like guesses.
2. Pratfall effect: How Buckley's built a brand on tasting terrible.
3. Illusion of effort: Skyscanner's loading screen is theatre; visible effort equals perceived value.

πŸ’‘ Marisa Crimlis-Brown on why 4.8 stars beats 5, since nobody pleases everyone.

Your next winning ad is already made (someone else made it) πŸ‘‡

Most accounts fatigue because they can't produce new angles fast enough, and you could be paying for creative you already have sitting in your tagged posts.

Meta's Partnership Ads Hub now shows every post tagging your brand and whether you hold usage rights.

Request, get approval, run it.

3 behavioural science principles behind some of the best lines ever written ↓

1. Keats heuristic: If it rhymes, your brain rates it as more true.
2. Concreteness: Apple never sold 126MB of memory; they sold 1,000 songs in your pocket.

3. Linguistic Heisenberg: Nobody ordered the Patagonian toothfish. Renamed Chilean sea bass, sales multiplied over 30x.

πŸ’‘ Marisa on why words don't describe the value; they create it.

Most landing pages make claims; great ones make cases ↓

Problem, promise, ask. That's where most pages stop, and it's why the ask does all the heavy lifting on its own.

The step that's missing is proof.

Same promise, and only one of them is believable.

πŸ’‘ Will on why the ask gets easier when the proof has already done the convincing.

Go count the unproven claims on your own landing page πŸ‘‡
