Do you know how many languages are spoken across the UK every day?

It’s way over 300.

From Polish and Romanian to Arabic, Urdu, and Somali, there’s a huge range of languages being used across communities, workplaces, and services every single day.

That’s a lot of communication happening in different ways.

Language is more diverse than we often realise.

A huge congratulations to Elliot, Joe and friends who recently completed the UK 3 Peaks Challenge in support of an incredible cause.

Taking on 37 kilometres of walking, 10,052 feet of elevation, and completing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon in under 30 hours, the team pushed through tough ascents and very little rest to raise money for The Principle Trust Children’s Charity.

The charity provides families facing difficult circumstances with the opportunity to enjoy much-needed breaks away together in private cabins, creating lasting memories without the financial strain. 💙

We’re incredibly proud of them for taking on such a huge challenge in support of a fantastic cause. If you'd like to support their fundraising, you can donate here:

This weekend, myself and my friends are attempting to complete the UK 3 peaks which involves 37 kilometres of walking with 10,052 feet of elevation, within 24 Hours in the hopes to raise money for The Principle Trust Children’s Charity.

Interpreter broke down in tears while translating for an 11-year-old boy.

A child, standing in front of a room full of people, trying to explain what happened the day a missile hit the hospital he was in.

Trying to find the words to describe losing his mum.

And beside him, someone whose job was to stay composed…to listen, understand, and repeat every word so others could hear his story.

But in that moment, the weight of it all was impossible to ignore.

You can only imagine how that felt, for a child reliving something so painful, and for the person trusted to carry those words across to the world.

This is the part of interpreting that people don’t often see.

Not just the language.
But the emotion behind it.
The responsibility.
The human connection.

Because sometimes, being understood comes at a cost.

What does it take to work as a translator or interpreter with us?

It’s something many organisations don’t always think about, but it matters.

When you trust someone to support important conversations, you want to know they’re properly qualified, experienced, and able to communicate clearly.

At Language is Everything, the linguists we work with go through a careful process to ensure they’re ready for professional settings.

That includes:

✔ Proven language fluency and communication skills
✔ Relevant qualifications and experience
✔ An understanding of professional environments (from healthcare to legal and beyond)
✔ A commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and care

So you can feel confident that every interaction is handled clearly, professionally, and with your clients in mind.

Speaking a language fluently doesn’t always mean someone can use it professionally.

Workplace communication requires accuracy, clarity, and the ability to handle sensitive or complex situations, especially in sectors like healthcare, housing, and legal services.

It’s not just about being understood.
It’s about being understood correctly.

💬 Is this something your organisation has considered?

It’s your last chance to book a language assessor for GCSE speaking exams in 2026.

They give EAL students the opportunity to feel more confident and sit their exams in the language they know best, helping them focus on showing what they can truly do.

Thinking about using AI for translation in your organisation?

You’re not alone.

AI can be a useful tool, especially when you need a quick understanding or are working at scale.

But when communication involves real people, real services, and real outcomes… accuracy matters.

That’s why many organisations are taking a more balanced approach.

Using AI where it works and combining it with human expertise when it really counts.

At Language is Everything, we support that approach.

💬 How is your organisation currently using AI in communication?
