Utopia Computers started building custom PCs back in 1993. In those days we were established out of the need for a computer builder who could supply a bespoke, great performing PC that would not break the bank. On day one it was decided that we would do everything in our power to ensure that our PCs were built to a higher standard than any of our competitors and we would look after our customers with more care than any other PC builder could. Today, we’ve carried on that concept by producing elite, custom built PCs backed up with almost 20 years of knowledge, experience and national award-winning service & support. Our customer service has always been the core value of our company. This has seen customers from all over the UK continue to return to Utopia repeatedly for their computer requirements. Our outstanding service and attention to detail has not gone un-noticed within the industry. It has allowed us to win multiple industry awards such as the PCR Best Service & Support in the UK, UK’s Best Independent Retailer and UKs best retail experience.

Massive thanks to the organisers for helping us get involved this year and for continuing to put on what is, arguably, Scotland’s best 10K road race… admittedly, we might be a little biased 😉

Yesterday, Katherine’s dad, Geoff, was up the ladder helping us get the banner in place ahead of race day. A brilliant reminder that projects like this are never built alone, they’re built by family, volunteers, organisers and communities who care enough to get involved.

To everyone taking part on Sunday, good luck. Whether your goal is simply crossing that finish line, soaking up the atmosphere, running your first ever 10K, or finally cracking that PB you’ve been chasing… enjoy every step.

And a special shout out from all of us at Utopia to our very own Katherine who’ll be out there running this year… you’ve put in the training miles, now go enjoy it. We’re all cheering you on 💛🏃‍♀️

A few people have asked us something unexpected over the last few months...

"How can we help?"

Some have offered advice - like Kevin, who reached out this morning with an idea for the floor.

Some have offered support - like Richard, who wants to see us smash our sustainability goals.

One or two have even asked if they can come along and help build the new Innovation Centre themselves - you know who you are! (We love the enthusiasm, although our insurance company might have a few things to say about that! 😅)

It’s all got us thinking that perhaps we can do more.

As we transform a long-vacant building into Utopia's new home, perhaps there is a way for the people who believe in what we're building to become part of the story.

So, we're now exploring the idea of a crowdfunding campaign.
Not because we have to.

But because so many of you have asked how you can get involved.

We're imagining things like:
⚡ A Founders' Wall of Support inside the new building
⚡ Limited edition Utopia merchandise
⚡ Exclusive supporter rewards
⚡ Even ideas like lifetime free labour on repairs and upgrades for certain supporters

More importantly, any additional support could help us push beyond simply renovating a building.

We have stretch goals we'd love to achieve:
🎓 More guaranteed work experience placements for young people
🎥 A creator space where you can learn about technology, content creation and AI
💡 Additional community events and educational opportunities

Right now, we're just testing the waters.

We have power...well almost!

This week, Scottish Power came onsite and made the building safe, but we now need to wait for a new meter before we can turn on the lights!

As they say, the best things come to those who wait!

It's work experience week at Utopia!

Cameron has joined us and has jumped into the deep end, learning how we build our website.

We think work experience is all about getting hands-on and learning how a small business operates.

Over the next few days, Cameron will be learning everything from repairs to marketing (he's helping with this post!) as well as what it takes to be one of the UK's best tech companies!
