I had the pleasure of working with Claudia on this beautiful book. I was given the opportunity to bring her words to life with the illustrations I designed and crafted, staying mindful of tones and colours. This book is about educating young children to see themselves as unique and that being different is great. My Hair, My Choice is a book that represents black and brown children as the hero.
Through exploring natural hair and hairstyles, children are empowered to have self-confidence through making decisions about how they want to show up in the world.
Claudia Bruce-Quartey is a Ghanian/German mother of two young children, currently living in Switzerland. She is passionate about empowering children and women to be bold and fearless. Claudia is a champion of diversity and inclusion and believes that representation is key for the future success of underrepresented communities. Writing My Hair, My Choice is based on a personal experience Claudia’s 7-year-old daughter went through, and Claudia wanted to give her child a positive narrative about herself.

One of my favourite pieces of work, recently created. I had the pleasure of designing and illustrating the front cover for the ‘Spark of Brilliance, Volume 1, Poems by Children’ Book. All the children that participated were a true inspiration, to their friends and to all the adults in the room on the day of the awards.

This is a brilliant scheme created and run by the wonderful team at Book Brilliance Publishing, to which I’m honoured to associated with.

It’s been a while since I posted on my art page. However, I was inspired to create this peace as a of the power that still seems to have on so many.

Sadly, it’s not just that are effected by this. So many age groups seem to measure their via and 😥

I know only too well how overwhelming social media can become if it’s allowed to get out of hand. Having been told all too often that it’s my window to gain more or my work, it too has taken its toll on me more times than I’d like to admit.

I was once even turned away by several publishers simply because I didn’t have enough social media following!

These days, although I still try to keep up (for business purposes) with the demands of social media, I no longer allow it to define me! is far more important 🤩🤩🤩
