The three-second test 👇

Open your own website on your phone and time how long it takes to to fully load.

Just because your site is quick on desktop doesn't mean it is on mobile - and that's where business can quietly leak away.

Worth checking before it costs you the next call.

Your homepage has 5 seconds to answer three questions.

Can a first-time visitor tell what you sell, who it's for, and whether you're right for them? A lot of beautiful sites fail this test, they open with something creative and designed to inspire, but it leaves people guessing.

The fix is free: near the top, in plain words, say what you do and who it's for. Naming the thing you sell beats a clever line every time.

Whether you're migrating or not, submitting your sitemap to Google is a five-minute job worth doing today.

Find yours by typing your domain into your browser followed by /sitemap.xml. That file is the map Google uses to find every page on your store.

If you are migrating, submitting it through Google Search Console is how you tell Google the site has changed and invite it back in, rather than waiting weeks for it to notice on its own. The tool is free, and it's one of the easiest wins in SEO.

That wraps up our series on migrating without losing your rankings.

30/07/2026

You don't have to choose between a store that looks better and a store that keeps ranking.

A migration is a tempting time for a full redesign, and much of that is safe. The rule: protect the foundation and change what sits around it. Keep each page's web address (or redirect it), its title, its headings and its wording. You're free to improve the layout, imagery, navigation and the overall feel around that.

Skipping this one step could cost you years of Google rankings when you migrate your website.

A 301 redirect from each old web address to its new one is a signpost that tells Google the page has moved. Without it, Google finds a 404 error and stops ranking the page. With redirects in place at launch, the authority you've built flows across to the new addresses over the first couple of months, and nothing is lost.

That’s part 2 of our series on migrating without losing your rankings. For the step-by-step guide, read the full blog post on our website.

Most store owners only discover a migration has been badly handled after launch, when rankings they've spent years building start to slide. It's far easier to protect your SEO from the start than to win it back afterwards.

Follow along for the rest of this mini-series to find out how to protect your rankings when moving your store to Shopify.

AI technology is new. What it rewards is old.

Every episode of this series has pointed the same way. Say plainly what you do. Gather real reviews. Show up in the places your customers already look. None of it is a trick for the algorithm - it's the same behaviour that makes you a more trustworthy business to deal with anyway.

AI assistants recommend businesses that are worth recommending - that's the whole game.

That's the final episode of Get Found on AI. The full written guide is on our blog - link in the comments.

Most business owners assume AI recommendations are a big-brand contest - that the household names soak up every mention and everyone else is invisible.

Actually, roughly three quarters of citations aren’t from leading brands. If you're a focused local or specialised business, the game is more winnable than you think.

That's episode four of Get Found on AI. Follow along for tips on how to gain visibility.
