An advert appeared while they were watching a video during lunch:
“Exclusive employee discounts ending today.”

The countdown timer was ticking.

The website looked polished.

The deal looked amazing.

Twenty minutes later, Sam realised two things:

1. The trainers were never arriving
2. Their company password probably shouldn’t have been reused on a shopping site

Cue:
• Panic
• Calls to IT
• Emergency password resets
• A slightly awkward cybersecurity refresher for the entire department

The truth is, most security incidents don’t happen because employees are reckless.
They happen because people are human.

Sarah was trying to be efficient.

Between meetings, she searched online for a free PDF editing tool to quickly amend a client document.

A sponsored advert appeared at the top of the page:
“Fast. Free. No download required.”

Perfect.

Except it wasn’t.

The website looked genuine.
The branding looked professional.
The login screen even used familiar colours and design.

By 3pm, Sarah was resetting passwords while the cybersecurity team investigated suspicious account activity.

The problem wasn’t intelligence.

The problem was speed.

Modern cyberattacks are designed for busy workplaces where people are multitasking, under pressure, and trying to get things done quickly.

That’s why organisations need practical cybersecurity education that reflects real human behaviour — not just technical policies.

Because most employees won’t stop to analyse every click.

But they can learn what should make them pause.
