Another pallet of porcelain slabs delivered by nustone_uk, to be used in our smart patio and pergola. Smart occupancy detection, smart lighting and remote control roof shutters 😎

These match the terrace in front of our bifold doors. Enough left over to finish off the path too.

January 2026 was pretty good for generation considering. The new extension solar added another 28% 🌞

Finally bit the bullet and sorted out some proper washing line / clothes props 😎 A bit of 3D printing should mean they will last a very long time!

After many failed clothes props I decided to design and build my own.

Good to see the sun ☀️ getting hogher and stronger 🌞 The first time in 2026 that generation has crossed 6kW.

December was a pretty cold month but the gas central heating and hot water costs are still pretty low. I looked at an and it just wasn’t going to get even close to payback in my lifetime. The money was much better spent on more 🌞

On the Octopus Track tariff. Gas is about 4.5 - 5.0p per kWh. Solar exports are worth 15p per kWh.

The Tesla Powerwall is working flat out this month to keep our electricity usage to cheap rate. Our usage is highest in winter, generation lower, so the reserve is turned down to 5% to give us more usable storage.
