As a responsible managed IT support company, we are big believers in using refurbished IT equipment when possible.

When we buy laptops, desktops, and other IT equipment for clients, we always look at the best option for their needs. Sometimes that means new equipment and sometimes it means high-quality refurbished devices that still have plenty of life left in them.

And, when equipment genuinely reaches the end of its working life, we also want to make sure it is handled responsibly. That's why we're pleased to work with ReBOOT, who help refurbish, recycle, and repurpose IT equipment.

Happy World Environment Day 🌎.

☑️ New laptops delivered, set up and ready to go.

We were delighted to hand over 11 fully configured laptops to Cameron and the team at Home-Start Aberdeen last week.

We look after everything from sourcing the equipment to setup and installation, so staff can simply switch on and get started.

We were really happy to play a part in helping to get the live feed ready in time for the return of the swifts at Number 30.

🕊️ A huge THANK YOU from all of us at Number 30! 🕊️

Thanks to everyone who purchased a lucky square or donated to North East Scotland Swifts, we’ve now installed a new wall-mounted TV at the back of the café near the entrance to the Banking Hub — ready for us to hopefully (fingers crossed 🤞) enjoy the return of the swifts, who are due back any day now!

This wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support from you our customers and our local community:

👏 Andy from Pisys.net for donating his time and expertise to get everything connected electronically
📺 Donald from LXM Events for donating the TV
📷 Cally from North East Scotland Swifts for donating the camera

We can’t wait to welcome our feathered visitors back and share the live action with everyone popping in for a coffee and cake. ☕🍰🕊️

With hardware costs still high, many businesses are trying to get longer life from the devices they already have rather than replacing everything automatically.

The good news is that most slow or unreliable PCs don’t suddenly fail overnight. In many cases, a few simple maintenance habits can make a noticeable difference to performance and reliability.

We’ve shared 5 practical ways businesses can help keep Windows 11 devices running smoothly for longer 👇

Good IT support should help businesses make sensible lifecycle decisions, not replace usable hardware before it’s necessary.

But if your team’s devices are starting to feel slow or unreliable, we’re always happy to help you work out whether improvements or replacement makes more commercial sense.

Today is World Password Day. A good reminder to make sure the passwords you use are strong and not reused across multiple accounts.

Passwords protect almost everything in a business. Email accounts, cloud files, finance systems and customer data. If a password is weak or reused, it makes access much easier for attackers.

Three simple things worth checking today:

🔒 Use a password manager if you're not already using one
🔒 Make sure every account has its own password
🔒 Turn on two-factor authentication wherever possible

If your team is still sharing logins or using 'Password1' for the office Wi-Fi, take this as a good excuse to tidy things up with your IT provider.

Most businesses don’t want more from IT, they just want fewer problems.

Fewer interruptions.
Fewer recurring issues.
And things sorted quickly when something does go wrong.

That’s usually where the difference between IT providers shows.

It’s not about who promises the most. It is about having a partner who keeps things running smoothly in the background and deals with issues properly when they come up.

And just as importantly, one who helps stop problems building up in the first place.

If you’re reviewing your current setup, it’s worth asking:

- Are issues being properly fixed, or just responded to?
- Are problems being reduced over time?
- Is someone actively looking ahead, not just reacting?
- Is your Microsoft 365 set up securely and consistently?
- Do you know how quickly you could recover your data if needed?

Most gaps only become obvious when something goes wrong.

At Pisys, we take a proactive approach and work as a long term partner, keeping things simple, stable, and well managed so your team can get on with their day without disruption.

If you’re not sure your current setup is working as well as it could, it’s usually worth a conversation.

Does your IT feel slower or fussier than it used to be?

Not broken, just harder work.

With Windows 10 now at end of life, a lot of organisations are realising they’ve built up technical debt without meaning to. Old devices. Outdated systems. “We’ll deal with that later” upgrades.

The problem is that later eventually arrives.

Technical debt leads to:
• Slower machines
• More downtime
• Higher support costs
• Frustrated staff

And with the new financial year starting soon it makes sense to review budgets and plans.

Instead of carrying those IT frustrations into another year, it can make sense to phase improvements properly:
• Replace devices gradually
• Upgrade what’s out of support
• Plan costs across the year instead of facing one big hit

You don’t need a full overhaul. Just a clear plan.

A steady, managed approach now can mean fewer disruptions, smoother operations, and less firefighting later.

If your systems feel like they’re working against you rather than with you, it might be time to reset the plan for the year ahead.

Get in touch for a straightforward chat about what’s working in your IT and what could work better.
