Engineering Sound for Tough Luxury
Defender is built to be tough and luxurious. The cabin interior is a modern, masterful implementation of durability and function. A balance of exposed structural elements, clean surfacing and luxurious materials.
Despite this unique interior presenting a different acoustic challenge, Meridian delivers clear, controlled sound, whether you’re driving on or off road.
Meridian worked closely with the Defender team to ensure the speakers and interior features were developed together. Practical elements such as handles and stowage remain central to the cabin, while the sound system is positioned and tuned to deliver a premium experience throughout.
The subwoofer is an example of that approach. In Defender, it sits beneath a front seat, using the body cavity to deliver strong acoustic output, controlled bass and consistent low-frequency performance across the 90, 110 and 130 body styles.
Through timing, EQ and careful tuning, Meridian brings together all the elements within the system so sound within the cabin always feels coherent, balanced and natural.
Technologies such as RE-Q, Digital Precision and Trifield upmixing support that process, preserving detail, managing the acoustic environment and placing sound with accuracy across the whole interior.
This results in a sound system that belongs to Defender - precise in every detail, resilient in every environment, and sounding incredible on every journey.
