📅 October 14th is International E-Waste Day – but what does that mean?
♻ Put simply, it’s a global initiative that aims to reduce e-waste whether that’s through re-use, refurbishment or recycling.
The focus this year is on ‘Fast Tech’ (similar to ‘Fast Fashion’) which is a growing problem across the world. We’re seeing an increasing number of mass-produced, low-cost devices with short lifespans being thrown away. Items like vapes, handheld fans, light-up gadgets and earphones.
🗑 These items don’t belong in the bin!
In most cases they can be recycled along with your old chargers, cables and other unwanted electrical devices. Every item incorrectly disposed of contributes to landfill and wastes the potential that the item holds. They could even pose a risk to workers handling the waste, as some components can be toxic or prone to causing fires.
We’re trying to make it easier to recycle your devices in Hull and beyond, and we recently partnered with Material Focus to do just that. You can drop your e-waste into our shop, call us for free collections of larger quantities or visit a number of our new drop-off points found here:
