Just before the launch of the iPhone 17 Apple have retired some earlier models making them now classed as “obsolete”, meaning support is no longer offered.

The need additions include, the iPhone 8, X, and XS series, meaning that they’ll lose official hardware support. The obsolete list includes the iPhone 4, 5C, 5S, 6, and early 6s/6s Plus variants.

Apple classifies devices as vintage 5 years after sales end. Here is a list of all the iPhones added to the vintage list before:

Information Post:

Statement released by LG to confirm that they are withdrawing from the mobile phone market and will no longer support existing devices after June 30th.

'We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all customers who have always supported LG Electronics mobile phone products,' LG explained.

'Termination date', as LG calls it, has been set for June 30, 2025.

Writing at the time, it said: 'LG will provide service support and software updates for customers of existing mobile products for a period of time which will vary by region.'

'We hereby announce the termination of LG Electronics' mobile software upgrade (FOTA), Update Center and LG Bridge services,' LG said.

'After the termination of this service, software upgrade service will no longer be provided.

Information Post:

From May 5, anyone using an iPhone 5s, the iPhone 6, and the iPhone 6 Plus Apple devices will no longer be able to send or receive messages on the Whatsapp.

'These devices may not have the latest security updates, or might lack the functionality required to run WhatsApp.'

All of these iPhone models were discontinued by Apple in 2016 and were officially declared obsolete.

Being added to the obsolete products list means Apple will not service, provide parts to service providers, or release critical software and security updates for the device.

At the launch of the iPhone 14 a few of my customers were scammed buying the 14 Pro Max, as a result they lost up to £1000 each. These were brand new boxed phones and appeared to be genuine but once opened it was very obviously that the device inside was a copy using an Android operating system.
