What is 5G Ultra?
5G Ultra is for 5G Standalone, which is something every UK network is working towards.

5G Standalone then is – as you might have guessed – a standalone 5G network. What that means is one that’s built purely on 5G technology, rather than on a mix of 5G tech and an older 4G core.

Networks initially used that combination of 5G and 4G technologies, as it meant they could launch 5G services faster and more affordably, as they’d be able to leverage their existing network infrastructure.

However, this combination – known as 5G Non-standalone – doesn’t really deliver true 5G, so for 5G to live up to its full potential, you need 5G Standalone.

5G Technology: 12 Facts You Should Know

As with all new technologies, the problem with the 5G network in the UK is that many confuse conspiracy theories and half-truths as facts. Here are 12 incredible facts about 5G in the UK and what lies in stock for your business.

1. In theory, 5G delivers up to 10–50 Gbps, which is over 100 times faster than 4G. In real life, however, 5G speed is 100–500 Mbps. As the UK 5G rollout continues, speed is expected to increase.

2. Typically, standalone 5G is unavailable in the UK and many countries worldwide. It cannot work without 4G and does not offer the benefits of 5G to its fullest capacity.
