October is Cyber Security Awareness Month - a good excuse to talk about something most businesses never think about. 💡

Everyone worries about fake emails landing in their inbox. Far fewer worry about criminals sending emails pretending to be them. If your domain isn’t set up properly, someone can send your clients an invoice that looks exactly like it came from you.

The fix is three settings called SPF, DKIM and DMARC. 🔧

Boring names, but they stop your domain being borrowed - and when we check, there’s usually a gap the business didn’t know about.

Most people don't create workarounds because they want to ignore company policy, they do it because they're trying to get their job done. 🖥️

If a system feels slow, a process takes too long or the approved way of doing something feels awkward, people naturally look for an easier option. Sometimes that's using a personal cloud account, downloading an app that hasn't been approved, or even pasting company information into an AI tool without thinking about where that data is going.

That's known as Shadow IT, and while it often starts with good intentions, it can introduce security gaps, compliance issues and conflicting information across the business. The answer isn't making life harder for your team. It's making the right way the easiest way. 💡
