Red River Software Steps Up for Charity! 💚

This October, our team is lacing up for a cause close to our hearts: The Olive Tree Cancer Support Centre. Based in Crawley and Horsham, this incredible charity offers counselling, complementary therapies, and a safe space for those affected by cancer.

In previous years, we've collectively walked:

2020: 4,085,902 steps

2021: 5,867,547 steps

2023: 7,174,920 steps

2024: 5,716,958 steps

This year, we're aiming even higher! Every step we take brings us closer to our goal of supporting those who need it most.

It's a busy day for us today, with Simon Pringle, CEO of Red River speaking at the Sussex Skills conference at the Amex Stadium.

He's one of the business presenters, and has been presenting the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP), along with chair Dan Shelley - it's a busy one!

We've been in the software industry for some time and we've learnt a lot along the way

In fact we've collected a lot of useful ways to benefit our business and we're happy to share them!

One of the best pieces of advice we can offer is this nugget -

Pan for gold

What does that mean?

It means find the best in your team and give them everything they need.

They want to succeed; you want their success.

The more you can give them (and it doesn’t have to be a salary bump) whether that’s training, support, regular check-ins or more responsibility, let them know they’re treasured.

What advice would you give?

We’ve been in business for 17 years and we’ve learnt a few things along the way. We've been in a lot of meetings this year with businesses both large and small and in confidence, everyone is down about the economy at the moment and its impact on their businesses.

Here's our advice for this week -

Be Tough - How long do we spend sweating over the tough decisions in business? Not being paid on time? Being squeezed on price? Colleagues not performing? Today is the day to sort it out and you’ll be able to sleep tonight. Whether being tough or rewarding people, do it in a manner that fits the values of your organisation and avoid confrontation BUT be tough and think of yourself as a vehicle to deliver the facts. You probably don’t have the luxury of time to let things carry on.
