Stock Control Administrator. The first few moments of any day are checking messages and finishing up any tasks from the day before. Then it's several hours of a combination of answering the door, delabelling, figuring out which delivery goes with which PO, answering the door, booking stock in on Odoo, boxing up unboxed toner, answering the door, assessing fakes, and other toner adjacent activities. None of which are in any particular order.

By the last hour or so I've usually got the immediate items I need to deal with dealt with and either crack through some of the backlog, do some tidying or help on dispatch if things are getting spicy.

But alongside that, I’ve also developed a slightly obsessive hobby of visiting football stadiums around the country (and a few aboard). Current tally: 146 grounds and counting.

Time for another team member to step into the spotlight - this time it’s Daniel, the man who somehow manages to turn a chaotic pallet delivery into perfect order.

Stock Control Administartor. Typically being hunched over a varying amount of toners in the corner of the warehouse, muttering to oneself like some form of toner-based goblin, checking the condition of the treasure hoard.

Raise the Gates - Egypt Central. Not because it's fitting in anyway, but because I listened to it between 200-300 times while at work. Most of which were back-to-back over the course of four hours on one shift...

After that, the day becomes a glorious lucky dip:

• Entering orders
One of my favourite things? Portal training over the phone. There’s always that magic moment about two minutes in when the customer goes from “Hmm…” to “Oh wow, this is actually brilliant.” That’s the good stuff.

But I do have a soft spot for CF226X. It’s my trusty sidekick on BD calls. Reliable. Dependable. Always ready to shine.

I’m a Chartered Chemist (MRSC CChem) and spent over 20 years at The Laboratory of the Government Chemist - yes I wore a Lab, actual science happened.

I also play bridge (when the opportunity arises) and Dungeons & Dragons. So if you need someone to analyse chemical compounds or defeat a dragon, I’m your person.

𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲?

• A sheath knife (serious Scouting flashbacks)

Practical? Yes.

A chimpanzee - happy, slightly mischievous, and always on the move.

I love dancing, especially to a live band. I have also been known to have a subtle wiggle in the Tesco queue (excellent background music). Aldi? Not so much. The vibe isn’t there.

Failing that? A milk chocolate McVitie’s Digestive - specifically for dunking. Structural integrity is key.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂?
I’m the Finance Director, and my role is split between the accounts and business strategy. A lot of the day involves the usual finance work making sure everything adds up and the numbers behave, but I also spend time looking at how the business is performing and where we should focus next. I also help with operations, which usually means getting involved in whatever needs sorting that day.

Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. It feels appropriate because in finance you spend quite a lot of time chasing things… mostly invoices rather than cars.

The HP 92298A. Absolute classic. It’s been around forever and still sells, which in the toner world is basically legendary status.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂?
That Leon and I aren’t actually brothers. We’re the two directors and people assume we must be related. We’re not, although after working together this long we probably argue like we are.

A satellite phone, a solar charger and a laptop. Mainly because HMRC probably wouldn’t accept “stranded on a desert island” as a valid reason for filing the VAT return late.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼?
Probably something that spends a lot of time swimming. Maybe a dolphin. I do a fair bit of triathlon so being comfortable in the water definitely helps.
