We don’t see many of these WD Reds but the NAS unit this 3TB was in had suffered a power surge, which had blown the NAS and the drive PCB. PCB fixed and all the data recovered for the customer.

Full recovery of the data on this SSD (Solid State Drive). It is from an ASU’s Zenbook 14 and had failed with bad sectors. We managed to save all the end users critical university work under the Standard Service.

Our old pal the ST2000LM007 Seagate 2TB with EB01 f/w. Head failure. Head 3/surface3 was the man issue. So after cloning the other surfaces, we performed a head change with donor parts to try and get to surface 3 after multiple passes. We had a good recovery totalling 1.7TB (35768 files) with just 95 files missing.
Great result!

Great result on a WD 2TB Green.
The drive wasn’t very well so it was Sata converted and heads 5,6 & 7 were turned off as the were weak. Surfaces 0,1,2,3 & 4 were then cloned successfully. Luckily we had an exact head match in stock so we performed a head change, surface 5 & 6 cloned straight away but surface 7 took multiple passes lowering the skip rate each time.
The recovery was run against the clone and we rescued 1.35TB (493255 files) with 725 files missing due to damage.
The customer who is the end user, sent it straight to us without any attempts to get to the data. By doing this they gave us the best chance of recovery. I think it would have been a lot worse otherwise.

A really good standard full data recovery, the drive was getting worse during the recovery attempt so the customer sending the WD 1TB straight to us was a very good call.

or
2) Advanced Service £270.00inc VAT (Microsoldering, f/w, heads without parts)
Or
3) Advanced plus Service
i) Up to and including 3TB £370.00inc VAT (heads with parts and chip off for SSD)
ii) Over 3TB £470.00inc VAT (heads with parts)

The only extras are something to put the data back on to and the carriage, both of which can be provided by the customer. If a WD drive is in warranty they will provide an advanced exchange for the data.

If not successful you just pay the carriage.

Caveats to this are:
1) If the drive has been opened previously then a tamper fee applies on receipt.
2) If it is RAID or is needed for Forensic evidence then this is done on a quote basis.

Toshiba 1TB HDD bad sectors with some of them on the MFT so we slow cloned and deep scanned to get 447GB of family data with just 11 files missing a little bit of folder structure loss.
Customer did the right thing sending it straight to us as it was starting to make some awful noises towards the end of the process.

If your drive fails:
1) Don’t power it on again.
2) Seek professional help
3) Only use data recovery software at home if you 100% know what you are doing and you know 100% it’s not a physical failure. Some come with a subscription so often it’s cheaper to send here anyway.

As fake a drive as they come. This is supposed to be a USB-C SSD, but it’s a fake capacity usb stick covered by a label. Nothing we can do with this one I’m afraid.
