“Drive not seen” A nice standard recovery at £140. Drive had bad sectors so our rigs tricked it into giving up the data. Jam packed at 442GB of data, mostly photos and videos.

Left over chassis from a Seagate 500GB ST31000528AS. The motor had failed and we were unable to free it, so we’ve gone old school and changed the chassis with a donor drive. It is now slowly cloning with a few errors but fingers crossed we can limp it home for a decent recovery.

This Western Digital 1TB HDD had suffered “stiction”.
The heads fly at 5 nanometres above the platter/disc surface that is spinning at 5400rpm, the drive had been dropped a short distance not giving enough time for the sensors to realise and park the heads safely into the parking ramp. Instead the heads have hit the platter surface a d stuck into the data bearing layer.
In this case we managed to free the heads with specialist tooling and clone surface 0, 2 & 3. But head 1 was too damaged to read and so we had to used a set of donor heads to rebuild the drive. This was done in the clean lab and we managed to clone surface 1 completing the process and recovering all the customers missing family and business data.

This 300GB Maxtor HDD was 20 years old when it expired in a plume of smoke.
A PCB repair sorted the issue and it came back to life, a little slower than before but we managed a clone and then recovery all the data.

Full recovery from this Lexar Micro SD card. Luckily the camera that it was taken on does a soft delete rather than an FF or 00 overwrite.
Standard recovery at £140 to get all the customers precious holiday photos of a moment that could never be repeated.
The customer could have tried to recover themselves with online software but that’s approx £80-£120, in a non lab environment, it must be set up to a secondary device to avoid overwrite, and unlike at Lazarus you have to pay even if not successful.
Forget online software just get a professional to do it for you at a reasonable price.
