Out with the old and in with the new!

Windows server 2022 migration completed for our fabulous client, Select Products in Brecon.

In October this year, Windows Server 2012/2012R2 will no longer be supported by Microsoft. This doesn’t mean your server will just stop working, but it does mean that security patches and system updates will no longer be available.

Most software providers constantly develop their software, and in most cases will not be testing for Windows Server 2012/2012R2 issues anymore, which means they will be unable to support your software or SQL databases.

We recommend that you always ensure you update to the latest version available, for all software.

We supply IT support services to home and small businesses in and around Herefordshire and the surrounding counties. The successful applicant will be required to supply 1st and 2nd line IT/helpdesk support to our clients, so a good telephone manner is required. In addition to helpdesk support, there may be site visits so a clean UK driving licence is essential. The position will be offered as a full-time permanent post with hours and pay to be discussed.
It is essential to have a good knowledge of, and ideally experience with, the following: hands-on training will be given to applicants who may need to up-date knowledge base
• Microsoft / Office 365 admin • Office applications including, Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint, Teams • Windows 7/8/10/11 • Team Viewer remote access and monitoring • General helpdesk troubleshooting duties. It is advantageous if you have knowledge or experience with: • Windows server 2012 – current • Domain controller active directory, group policy • Draytek router experience / knowledge • Wired and wireless networks, access points, routers, point to point • VLAN, VPN, Remote access / sites
The successful applicant should • Be able to work independently and as part of a team • Be self motivated and use own initiative • Good attendance and time keeping • Handling telephone calls and prioritising jobs • Good communication skills.

It would be beneficial to also have experience with hardware and software repairs which may include; • Installing Windows • Removing viruses • Upgrading hardware • Replacing faulty components such as, hard disk drives, memory, laptop screens and PSUs • Cloning systems • Troubleshooting, operating systems and software issues • Experience with network cabling and Wifi installations – hands-on training will be given to applicants who may need to up-date knowledge base
