It’s been a proper "on the road" week across Herefordshire (and into Wales), and I wouldn’t have it any other way! People often ask what my day-to-day is like, and I’ve realised I wear a few different hats when I’m out visiting you all:

𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞: Hunting down those "mystery" errors, unravelling tangled cables, and figuring out exactly why the Wi-Fi disappears the moment you sit in your favourite chair.

𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐫: Listening to the frustrations that tech can cause! I know how stressful it is when your digital life feels out of reach, so a big part of my visit is just providing a bit of calm and reassurance.

𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐈𝐓 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭: The standard stuff—unboxing new computers, securely copying your precious data over to fast new drives, and getting everything running smoothly again.

It’s been a pleasure meeting so many new and repeat customers this week. Between all the miles driven and the many friendly dogs petted, it’s been a busy one!

Just bring in your troublesome devices and I will either diagnose and fix on the spot, or arrange to take it away (or come to you) to repair.
• Drop in session, no need to book
• Bring along your laptop/phone/printer etc...
• Diagnose and repair small issues
• Bigger issue; leave device with me for repair
• Advice, support and training
£10 per small fix. Bigger jobs can be booked in
(to be discussed at the time and repaired later).
Just like my one-to-one sessions or workshops, it'll all be very relaxed with no mumbo-jumbo techy-speak. Just turn up and I'll take a look.

🛑 Seeing scary "𝐕𝐈𝐑𝐔𝐒 𝐃𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐄𝐃!" alerts on your phone or computer? Read this first!

I see this exact problem on my home support visits almost every week. You’re browsing the web, and suddenly your device starts buzzing or flashing with terrifying warnings saying you’ve been infected with 15 viruses and need to click here to fix it.

Here is the secret: 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐮𝐬.

What you are actually seeing is a rogue website using your web browser's built-in "notifications" feature to trick you. They want you to panic, click the link, and pay for useless or dangerous software.

Giving away my own trade secrets like this might just put me out of a job because I fix this so often! But I'd much rather you stay safe online.

If you are getting these annoying pop-ups, here is how you can completely switch them off yourself:
📱 On Android (Using Google Chrome)

Open your Chrome app.

Tap the three dots in the top right corner and choose Settings.

Scroll down and tap Site Settings, then select Notifications.

Look under the Allowed list. If you see any strange-looking website names that you don't recognise, tap on them and choose Remove or Block.
(Alternatively, you can go into your main phone Settings > Apps > Chrome > Notifications, and turn off notifications entirely to completely silence them!)

💻 On a Windows PC or Mac

Open your web browser (Chrome, Edge, or Safari).

Go into the browser's Settings (usually via the three dots or lines in the top right).

Search the settings bar for the word "Notifications".

Find the section that lists websites allowed to send notifications, and remove any suspicious or unfamiliar websites from that list.

Once you revoke that permission, the fake virus warnings will vanish instantly.

If you try these steps and the pop-ups just won't budge, or if you'd simply prefer me to take a look and give your device a full health check, I am always here to help.

Huge News: Social Media to Be Banned for Under-16s!** 🚨
The government has just announced a landmark plan to block social media platforms from offering services to children under 16, aiming to bring the rules into force by spring 2027.

Personally, I think this is absolutely fantastic news for families.
As a tech professional, I see firsthand how addictive these platforms can be. This ban isn't about restricting kids; it's about giving them their childhoods back.

**The major benefits for our children and families:**
* **Better mental health:** Moving away from addictive, endless scrolling and comparison culture.
* **Safer environments:** The government is also adding strict blocks on livestreaming and adult-to-child contact on gaming platforms.
* **Stronger family time:** Encouraging real-world interaction, outdoor play, and healthier sleep routines.
* **A united front:** It takes the pressure off parents to police these massive platforms alone.

It's a bold move, but a necessary one to protect the next generation.
