Day 3 - Spring-Heeled Jack
My first watercolour of the challenge. For the third day of , I am portraying Spring-Heeled Jack, a figure within Victorian English folklore, an early example of an urban legend, if you will.
The figure was said to have been seen to leap across roofs in the streets of London and Liverpool at night.
When doing my research, I found he would often be portrayed as either a man in a disguise with a mask and cape or as an outright supernatural being.
When doing my own portrayal, i leaned mainly towards the former as I thought that was interesting. To create his appearance, i researched into Victorian fashion and I also looked into photos I took while at the Venice Festical of people in elaborate costumes with masks.
Its good to pick up the watercolours and I think I captured the atmosphere well although I did rush a bit as the time was getting short.
