I am pleased to announce that after many weeks my Laptop and PC Repair Service is opening today, 1 July. I would like to thank all those who have been patient during these difficult times and please do contact me if you still want me to sort out your machines. Until I feel it’s safe to do so, I won’t be carrying out any home visits or collections so all machines will need to dropped off to me. Look forward to serving you all again. Steve

Is your laptop or PC running so slow it’s driving you nuts? The answer is to have a Solid State Drive (SSD) fitted as they run up to 10 x the speed of your old drive. I’ve fitted lots of these in the last 12 months and everybody is 100% delighted. I have fitted them in my own laptops and computers too and they are internet ready around 10 seconds from switching on. SSD's come in various sizes but most of the ones I fit are 120Gb as they are used as the boot drive plus some storage. If you require a lot of storage on a laptop then your original hard drive can be fitted in place of the DVD drive. The dearer option is to fit a larger SSD. I recently carried out a job for someone who is keen on photography so they had a 1Tb SSD fitted and I used their 1Tb hard drive for extra storage. Each job is different so feel free to contact me and I can tailor the job to your requirements.

I would like to wish all my customers a Happy New Year and a big THANK YOU for your continued support during 2018. It has been a very busy year too due to those who’ve recommended me to their friends and colleagues either by word of mouth or via Facebook. Much of the work has been the fitting of Solid State Drives to laptops and PC’s. These can make your machines run up to 10 x faster. Other jobs have been routine services, virus removals and hardware repairs. I’ve also repaired quite a few Gaming PC’s and built some from scratch. I strive very hard to offer the best computer and laptop repair service in Haverhill and this is borne out by many positive remarks received online and to me personally. Thank you to all those who have recently ‘liked’ this page. For those of you who have liked the page but have not yet used my services, I can promise you that I offer a totally professional service with the highest standards of workmanship that are unmatched anywhere locally. I do not have a shop in the town but choose to work from home in a dedicated room as this keeps costs low. I am a bit OCD in that I will not release a laptop or PC back to a customer until it runs perfectly. I believe that my charges are very reasonable considering the amount of effort I put in to each job which can take me around 5 hours on average to perfect. Yet, many people expect to pay £10 to £15 for this level of service and tend to go elsewhere. This year has been fairly quiet which may be due to ‘Austerity’ or the uncertainty surrounding Brexit where people are worried about their financial security. I am pleased to have some very loyal customers that return again and again. However, more customers are always welcome, and especially those who appreciate someone carrying out quality repairs rather than ‘cheap’ jobs that don’t last. I would be very grateful if all of you who like my page to share it with your local friends who live in Haverhill and the surrounding villages, and mention me on any groups you belong to. Thanks in advance – really appreciate it.

Hello Everybody - another useful tip for you. I know that many of you like playing online games through Facebook and other sources. If you are using the Google Chrome browser this has its own built in Flash player that affect the running of the games and watching YouTube etc, so it’s always a good idea to keep your Google Chrome updated. To check you have the latest version simply click on the three vertical dots at the top right hand of the screen and a menu will open, click on ‘Help’ then click on ‘About Google Chrome’. It should update automatically if it needs doing.

Hello Everybody, just a warning – if you’re using Windows 10 there is a major update on the way. You should currently be on version 1703. To check this, go to Settings>System>About to find the version you’re currently using. The new version is 1709. To manually check for this update, go to Settings>Update and Security>Check for updates. It’s a large download so may take up to 3 hours.
