A fabulous new review from Silviu TUDOR Reviews & WoodWorks in Romania, courtesy of our great friend Gabriel Audio Enterprise who kindly arranged this article.
In his characteristic style, Silviu has written a wonderful introduction to our pre-amplifier and the concept of Transformer Volume Control and passive pre-amplification.
Our sincere thanks to Silviu and Gabriel!
My in-depth review of The Bespoke Audio Company Preamplifier is now live.
I spent more than a month living with this extraordinary passive preamplifier, moving it through several systems and trying to understand a philosophy almost opposite to what I had experienced with conventional active preamplifiers.
There is no active amplification stage in its audio signal path. Instead, two enormous hand-wound transformers control the volume, with around 1.6 kilometres of conductor used to wind them inside a single preamplifier.
Here is a small sneak peek from the review:
“The moment you listen to your favourite music through a Bespoke Preamplifier, you immediately notice a naturalness and ease to the sound that you may never have experienced before. Many times while listening to the Bespoke Preamplifier, I had the impression that the performers were actually there in the room with me, because my brain interpreted their voices as real voices.”
Inside the review, I explore the story of Harry O’Sullivan and Lucy Gastall, the craftsmanship behind every Bespoke Preamplifier, its fascinating TVC architecture, system and cable matching, passive versus active preamplification and, of course, what it actually sounds like.
And ultimately, I try to answer the most important question:
Who is The Bespoke Preamplifier really for?
Because it certainly isn’t for everyone.
