We asked Dave to film a quick reel. Ten seconds. A few words. How hard could it be?

A few takes later, here we are.

In fairness to Dave, he's the owner, not an actor. He's been at Cash Generator since 2001 and knows his gold, phones and consoles inside out. Ask him what something's worth and you'll get an answer on the spot. Ask him to say one line to a camera and, well, you've just seen how that goes.

We gave Dave a dog ball launcher to test.

That was probably our first mistake.

For a few minutes, Dave appeared to think he'd been dropped into a real-life game of Call of Duty and was having an absolutely brilliant time firing balls around Cash Generator Hartlepool.

Then two small children spotted what was happening.

And apparently decided:
“If the big kid fires them, we'll catch them.”
So that's pretty much how the afternoon went.
