How many jobs has your website brought you this week?

Paul O'Hanlon at POH Auto Services can answer that one precisely.

"The first week we secured 10 jobs directly related to the new website, most importantly creating sales from inquiries."

Ten, in seven days. Not enquiries that went nowhere. Work on the ramps.

Most garage owners genuinely cannot answer the question, because nothing on the site was ever built to be counted in the first place.

If you can't put a number on what your website did for you last week, that is the thing worth fixing before anything else.

Give us a call or WhatsApp us on 01423 855902.

Of everyone you booked in this month, how many had never used you before? 🤔

Jordan Cave at Prestwood Modern & Classic: "Within the first month I've had more bookings from customers that have never used us before than I ever expected."

The regulars were always coming back. New names are the growth.

Someone comparing three local garages on their phone at nine at night isn't judging your spanner work. They can't see it yet. They're judging what they can see.

Worth being honest about what yours is telling them.

Three seconds is the whole window.

Google's own research put it plainly: 53% of mobile visits are abandoned if a page takes longer than three seconds to load. That research is close to a decade old and Google still cites it. Patience has not improved.

Think about who is looking. Brakes grinding. An MOT that ran out on Tuesday. A warning light on the way to work. These are distress purchases and the customer rings whoever answers first.

So the test is not how the site looks on the office monitor. From landing on the page, how many seconds until someone can call, message or book?

More than twenty and you are leaking work.

There is a difference between winning a popularity contest and winning a judged one.

RampUp won the Innovation Award at the 2026 CAT Awards back in February. That category was not a public vote. It was decided by an independent panel of industry judges who looked at what the product actually does inside a workshop.

The win came within weeks of RampUp's December 2025 launch.

Jim Lang, Director: "Being recognised with the Innovation Award is hugely encouraging, because it shows there's real demand for technology that strengthens independence rather than creating dependency."

Zero commission, a flat monthly fee, and it plugs into any existing garage website rather than tying you to ours.

"We've already got a website."

Fair enough. But is it bringing you work, or just sitting there?

Justin Ellis at City Garage: "…our new website is working better than previously and getting a lot more viewings, request and bookings…"

Previously. He already had a site. It simply wasn't earning.

That's the position most garages are actually in. Not missing a website, stuck with a dead one that ticked a box years ago and hasn't been opened since.

Read your own website out loud.

Now swap your garage's name for the one down the road. Does a single sentence become untrue?

If not, you haven't described your business. You have described a garage. "Friendly, professional team." "Competitive prices." "All makes and models.". Nearly every workshop in the country says it, which is why none of it lands.

The specifics you left out are the ones you would charge more for.

Which MOT classes you test. The kit in the bay and what it cost you. The VAG work, the Land Rovers nobody else locally will take on. The jobs other garages send you.

The Motor Ombudsman found 92% of repairers named rising costs as their biggest challenge for 2026, and 55% said not passing those costs on to customers was an added obstacle in itself.

A proper labour rate is very hard to defend on a website that reads like everybody else's.

Vague is a discount you didn't mean to offer.

9pm on a Sunday is not an odd time to book an MOT. For a lot of people it is the only time they have.

The customer working nine to five can’t ring you during your opening hours. So they do it from the sofa on a Sunday night, with whichever garage lets them.

AP Autocare in Bristol took 40 confirmed fixed-price bookings worth over ÂŁ5,670 in RampUp's first eight weeks in their site. That works out at over ÂŁ100 a day in confirmed work before the garage doors even open.

The part that matters for a workshop is that it happens on your terms. Lead times, blocked hours, bookable sections mapped to individual ramps or the MOT bay. No double bookings.

And if you would rather nothing hit the diary unapproved, RampUp runs as a request-and-approve gateway for front of house instead of a live calendar.

Stripe takes deposits or full payment, Apple Pay and Google Pay included.

Be honest. When did your website last bring you an enquiry?

Roy & Liz Hutchings at Hutchings Vehicle Services: "We have never had such a good website." And: "Since going live we have had daily online enquiries…"

Daily. That's the bit worth noticing.

Plenty of garages get a flurry of interest when a new site goes live, then hear nothing for months afterwards. A launch bump is not a result.

The website earning its keep is the one still producing enquiries long after nobody is talking about it any more.

Most booking tools treat a clutch replacement like a haircut.

They block out an hour. They take a name. They never ask what the vehicle actually is.

Our director put the cost of that plainly: "If a booking system doesn't account for the difference in labour between a Fiat 500 and a Range Rover, the workshop loses out."

You’ve either quoted too low and you swallow the difference, or you have quoted too high and the customer goes elsewhere. Neither is a good day.

RampUp runs a VRN lookup at no extra cost and adjusts the service menu to the exact vehicle. Make, model, engine capacity, fuel type, year.

From there the rules are yours. Engine break points, manufacturer-specific rates, separate pricing for small, medium and large EVs.

Chris Peacock at AP Autocare in Bristol: "Our online pricing used to be very generic. RampUp tailors the cost to each vehicle."

DVSA garage partners carried out 42.5 million MOT tests last year.

Which is exactly why "MOT near me" is the worst search term to build a website around. Every garage within ten miles is already fighting for it, and the winner is usually whoever discounts hardest.

The margin sits somewhere quieter.

Class 7 MOT testing in your town. DPF cleaning and regeneration. ADAS calibration, if you have invested in the rig. Air-con regas before June. EV servicing.

Lower volume, far higher intent, less competition.

A GSO site runs to roughly 1,300 individual pages. One for every profitable service and repair that actually makes you money, every town you cover, and every make and model, down to manufacturer level, that you want on your ramps.
